- Rolinha Kross (born 16 June 1961) is a Dutch singer with a Jewish/Czech mother and a Surinamese father. From an early age, she was fascinated by Eastern European music and the Yiddish language. She performed with various groups, a.o. with her mother, , under the name "Sense". She followed the vocalprogram in jazz and light music at the Conservatory in Hilversum (now in Amsterdam). Immediately after the academy, she went on tour with the musical "You're The Top", with in the lead.Meanwhile, she worked with , and various jazz ensembles.The Rolinha Kross Trio, together with and , recorded an album "Tsigayner Klezmer". Many performances followed at home and abroad, among them Canada and Curaçao. A tour with Ramses Shaffy along theaters in the Netherlands and Belgium proceeded together with a production of Ira Gershwin with , Mathilde Santing en Denise Jannah.Subsequently, Rolinha worked together with the klezmer group , with whom she performed often at home and abroad, and recorded four albums.With Mazzeltov Rolinha performed three times at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Recently, Rolinha plays in the musical performance "Iberia" which she and developed. With guitarist Harold Berghuis she delivers a program of Yiddish poetry (translated by ) that they have put to music. She often performs as a guest in the show of "Frank in Person" with jazz standards. On top of that, the newly created Rolinha Kross Quartet brings Dutch lyrics to gypsy jazz music. They are currently working on an album. Rolinha Kross regularly hosts singing workshops. Her voice can be heard in commercials and commentary on documentaries. (en)
- Rolinha Kross (1961) is een Nederlandse zangeres met een Joods/Tsjechische moeder en een Surinaamse vader, Rudi Kross. Al vanaf jonge leeftijd werd zij gefascineerd door Oost-Europese muziek en de Jiddische taal. Zij trad op met diverse groepen, onder andere met haar moeder, , onder de naam . Zij volgde de zangopleiding jazz/lichte muziek op het Conservatorium in Hilversum (nu Amsterdam). Direct na het conservatorium volgde een tournee met de musical "You're The Top", met Willem Nijholt in de hoofdrol.Intussen werkte ze samen met , en diverse jazzensembles.Van het Rolinha Kross Trio met en kwam een cd uit: "Tsigayner Klezmer". Er volgden vele optredens in binnen- en buitenland, w.o. Canada en Curaçao. Er volgde ook een tournee met Ramses Shaffy langs de theaters in Nederland en België en een productie over Ira Gershwin met onder andere Ernst Daniël Smid, Mathilde Santing en Denise Jannah.In 2002 ontstond de samenwerking met de klezmergroep Mazzeltov. Ook met deze groep volgden vele optredens in binnen- en buitenland en werden vier cd's opgenomen. Met Mazzeltov trad Rolinha drie maal op in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Recentelijk speelt Rolinha in de muzikale voorstelling "Iberia", die zij en hebben ontwikkeld. Ze brengt met als Duo een programma met Jiddische poëzie (vertaald door Willy Brill) die zij zelf op muziek hebben gezet. Ze treedt regelmatig op als gast in de show van "Frank in Person" met jazzstandards. Samen met het brengt zij een meer Balkan gericht programma. Bovendien brengt het nieuw opgerichte Rolinha Kross Kwartet Nederlandstalige teksten op gipsy jazz muziek. Rolinha Kross verzorgt regelmatig Jiddische, Jazz of Nederlandstalig georiënteerde zang-workshops. Daarnaast spreekt zij commercials in en commentaar bij documentaires. (nl)
