- Le Piledriver (« marteau-pilon » en français) est une prise de catch. Cette prise est majoritairement utilisée au catch, mais il est possible de voir des piledrivers dans certains combats d'Ultimate Fighting Championship. Cependant cette manœuvre est aujourd'hui considérée comme illégale sous les règles unifiées de combat libre nord-américain, qui pénalisent toute forme de projection sur la tête ou le cou de l'adversaire ; l'utilisation d'un Piledriver ou d'une de ses variantes, résultera en une déduction de points ou l'arrêt complet du combat à la discrétion de l'arbitre. L'utilisation du piledriver lors de combats d'arts martiaux mixtes est toujours permise en Asie et d'autres régions du monde qui n'ont pas de dispositions portant sur ce type de projection dans leur réglementation. Le Piledriver traditionnel s'applique habituellement en bloquant la tête de son adversaire entre ses cuisses, en le forçant à se pencher vers l'avant, puis en enroulant le tour de la taille de ses bras, avec un mouvement de levier l'attaquant soulève son adversaire pour ensuite se laisser tomber assis, la tête de ce dernier entrant ainsi directement en contact avec le sol avec la force de leurs poids combinés à tous les deux. Cette prise peut donc être très dangereuse, et est bannie par la WWE depuis l'accident de Stone Cold Steve Austin lors de son combat contre Owen Hart en 1997. Après un Reverse piledriver, la tête de Steve Austin percuta violemment le matelas du ring, le paralysant momentanément. Malgré cela, le combat continua, ce qui empira l'état du cou et de la colonne vertébrale du catcheur. Cet accident est probablement une des causes de la retraite presque complète de Steve Austin, qui était à l'époque le catcheur babyface qui remplissait le plus les arènes. Seuls certains lutteurs vétérans comme The Undertaker, ont encore le droit de pratiquer cette prise de manière limitée, comme lors d'évènements spéciaux comme WrestleMania par exemple. The name is taken from a piece of construction equipment, also called a pile driver, that drives countless massive impacts on the top of a large major foundation support, burying it in the ground slowly with each impact. The act of performing a piledriver is called "piledriving". Someone who has recently been the victim of a piledriver is said to have been "piledriven" (e.g. "The wrestler was piledriven into the canvas"). Notable wrestlers who have regularly used a piledriver during their career include Jerry Lawler, Bret Hart, Harley Race, Paul Orndorff, The Undertaker, Kane, The Brain Busters, Buddy Rogers, Minoru Suzuki, Karl Gotch, and Kazuchika Okada. The piledriver is often seen as one of the most dangerous moves in wrestling. The reverse piledriver is directly responsible for shortening the career of Stone Cold Steve Austin when his opponent, Owen Hart, inadvertently botched the move, legitimately breaking Austin's neck. Due to this, the move is banned in the WWE with the exceptions of Kane and The Undertaker due to their experience and having already established the Tombstone (kneeling belly-to-belly variant) as a finisher. De "Piledriver" wordt over het algemeen beschouwd als een van de gevaarlijkere worstelmanoeuvres vanwege potentiële compressie van de nek. De beweging werd voor het eerst onder zijn originele naam gebruikt door voormalig professioneel worstelaar Jerry Lawler in de jaren '70, maar werd vooral bekend vanwege de zeer toneelmatige aanwending door The Undertaker, die de beweging populariseerde als "Tombstone Piledriver" bij wijze van afwerkingsbeweging (jargon: finisher). Estes golpes possuem em comum o fato do atacante colocar o oponente de cabeça para baixo, depois caindo sentados ou de joelhos, levando a cabeça do oponente ao chão. Seu nome é uma referência ao mecanismo bate estaca, que é chamado de "pile driver", em inglês. Piledrivers são extremamente perigosos, pois se ocorrer um leve "botch", o wrestler a receber tal golpe corre um risco sério de lesões graves. Um piledriver executado perfeitamente dentro do Kayfabe consiste na cabeça do receptor tocando levemente no chão, ou nem tocando no chão. Em algumas promoções, Piledrivers são proibidos, como é o caso da WWE, apesar de uma exceção para The Undertaker e Kane (principalmente o primeiro) estar ativa, pois estes wrestlers possuem experiência com tal golpe.
