- Fantastes. Una novela de hadas para hombres y mujeres (en inglés Phantastes: A Faerie Romance for Men and Women) es una novela fantástica escrita por George MacDonald, publicada por primera vez en Londres en 1858. Más tarde fue reimpresa en rústica por Ballantine Books como el volumen XIV de las Ballantine Adult Fantasy series en abril de 1970. La historia se centra en el personaje de Anodos ("ascenso" en griego) y se inspira en el romanticismo alemán, particularmente en Novalis. La historia trata de un joven que es arrastrado a un mundo onírico y allí lucha por su ideal de belleza femenina, encarnada por la "Dama de mármol". It was later reprinted in paperback by Ballantine Books as the fourteenth volume of the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series in April 1970. The story centres on the character Anodos ("pathless" in Greek) and takes its inspiration from German Romanticism, particularly Novalis. The story concerns a young man who is pulled into a dreamlike world and there hunts for his ideal of female beauty, embodied by the "Marble Lady". Anodos lives through many adventures and temptations while in the other world, until he is finally ready to give up his ideals. The edition published in 1905 was illustrated by Pre-Raphaelite painter Arthur Hughes. C. S. Lewis wrote, concerning his first reading of Phantastes at age sixteen, "That night my imagination was, in a certain sense, baptized; the rest of me[,] not unnaturally, took longer. Het boek verscheen in 1974 in het Nederlands onder de titel Droomwereld. Het boek draait om het personage Anodos (wat "de weg kwijt" of "beklimming" betekent in het Grieks). Het werd geïnspireerd door Duitse romantiek, met name Novalis. Het boek concentreert zich op een jonge man die meegetrokken wordt in een droomachtige wereld en daar jaagt op vrouwelijk schoon, belichaamd als "Marble Lady". La sua importanza è stata riconosciuta nella sua successiva ristampa in brossura con l'edizione della Ballantine Books come quattordicesimo volume della celebre serie Ballantine Adult Fantasy nel mese di aprile 1970. Si tratta della prima opera in prosa pubblicata da MacDonald. A causa del suo limitato successo di pubblico, l'autore si vide costretto a modificare il proprio genere di scrittura privilegiando romanzi realistici. Phantastes, comunque, esercitò una grande influenza sugli autori del genere fantasy delle generazioni successive.
