- Die Olympiajolle – kurz O-Jolle; Zeichen: ein roter Kreisring, stilisierend den Buchstaben "O" – wurde als Regattaboot für die Olympischen Spiele 1936 von Hellmut Stauch konstruiert. Sie ist als Einmannboot in Cat-Takelung konstruiert. Der Rumpf wird in Rundspantbauweise gebaut. Aufgrund der solide ausgeführten Konstruktion und der sehr guten Segeleigenschaften gibt es heute noch viele alte Boote. Die Ausrüstung der O-Jolle und die für sie verwendeten Materialien wurden dem Trend der heutigen Zeit angepasst. Der ehemalige Holz-Bootskörper wird heutzutage fast ausschließlich in Kompositbauweise aus GFK hergestellt. Das Deck wird – um der Optik willen – meistens aus Mahagoni aufgelegt. Nicht nur der Bootskörper veränderte sein Material. So bekam die O-Jolle z. B. nach und nach einen Baumniederholer, Vorstag und Wanten, V2A-Schwert und ein Alu-Ruderblatt. Anfangs aus Holz, wurde auch das Rigg (Mast und Großbaum) später aus Aluminium gebaut, was eine wesentlich größere Flexibilität zuließ. Das Vorstag und die Wanten wurden danach sogar verstellbar. Das ehemals starre Rigg wandelte sich so zu einem vielfach verstellbaren Instrument zum Regattasegeln. Es gibt kaum ein Einhandboot mit einem derart verstellbaren Segel. Die heute nicht mehr olympische O-Jolle ist zahlenmäßig eine der größten nationalen Bootsklassen in Deutschland. Die Klassenvereinigung – die Internationale Olympiajollen Union (IOU) – hat circa 500 Mitglieder. Die O-Jolle wird v. a. in den Ländern Holland, Schweiz, Österreich, Italien und Deutschland gesegelt. Außerdem gibt es noch vereinzelte O-Jollen in Brasilien, Polen und anderen Ländern. (de)

- The O-Jolle – (Olympiajolle) – was created as the Monotype class for the 1936 Olympic Games by designer Hellmut Wilhelm E. Stauch (GER, later RSA). The boat is a Bermuda rig and the hull was originally carvel - later GRP and cold moulded plywood construction were allowed. The O-Jolle has very good sailing capabilities and can cater for a wide spectrum of sailors from young to old and from light to heavyweight. In 1936 Daan Kagchelland took the Gold medal in the Olympic regatta in Kiel. The O-Jolle is still one of the largest dinghy classes in Germany and the Netherlands - the International Olympiajollen Union has over 500 members. The O-Jolle is still raced in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. There are also minor fleets in Poland, Brazil, Serbia and other countries. Since 2008 the O-Jolle has been one of the Vintage Yachting Classes during the Vintage Yachting Games. (en)
