- نهلة الشهال هي كاتبة صحفية وباحثة وناشطة وهي أبنة لأم عراقية وأب لبناني، وكان كلا منهما مهتمًا بالنضال الشيوعي. كانت نهلة واحدة من قادة منظمة العمل الشيوعي في لبنان وإحدى المشاركين في الحزب الشيوعي اللبناني. علاوة على ذلك، تعمل نهلة كاتبة عمود في صحيفة الحياة العربية التي تصدر في لندن. دَرَّست نهلة في الجامعة اللبنانية لمدة أحد عشر عامًا، ثم انتقلت بعد ذلك إلى باريس لتركز على البحث وهي الآن تشغل منصب رئيس جمعية الباحثات العربيات.وهي شقيقة المخرجة الراحلة رندة الشهال وتقيم حاليًا في باريس بفرنسا، حيث توفيت رندة. - Nahla Chahal (ALA-LC: Nuhlat Shahal (en árabe, نهلة الشهال); es una socióloga, escritora, periodista, investigadora y activista, nacida de madre iraqí y padre libanés, ambos militantes comunistas. Fue una de las líderes de la Organización de Acción Comunista Libanesa; y afiliada al Partido Comunista Libanés. Ha sido de la "Campaña Civil Internacional para la Protección del Pueblo Palestino" (CCIPPP) Es columnista en el periódico panarábico , que se publica en Londres. Fue profesora, durante once años, en la ; luego, se mudó a París para enfocarse más en la investigación y ahora es la presidenta de la Asociación de Investigadoras Árabes. Es hermana de la difunta directora de cine ; y, reside habitualmente en París, Francia, donde Randa falleció. Nahla Chahal, respetable y respetada chef de la guerra, como la describen, aquellos que sobrevivieron a la sangrienta guerra civil libanesa, ya no estaba en París en momento en que el debate tormentoso e improductivo sobre el uso del velo estuvo en pleno apogeo. - Nahla Chahal is a Lebanese writer, journalist, researcher and activist, born to an Iraqi mother and Lebanese father, who were both communist militants. She was one of the leaders of the Organization of Communist Action of Lebanon and a participant in the Lebanese Communist Party. She is also a columnist at Al Hayat pan Arabic newspaper, which is published in London. She taught at the Lebanese University for eleven years, then she later moved to Paris to focus more on research and is now president of the Arab Women Researchers Association. She is sister of late film director Randa Chahal and currently resides in Paris, France, where Randa died. (en)
