- Flavi Merobaudes, en llatí Flavius Merobaudes, fou un poeta suposadament hispanoromà i cristià, que apareix a la col·lecció de Fabricius amb trenta hexàmetres anomenats De Christo, recollits de l'obra de "Merobaudis Hispanici Scholastici", que va treure, segons diu, d'un manuscrit molt antic. La base d'una estàtua trobada a Roma el 1812 o 1813 al fòrum Ulpià porta una llarga inscripció en honor de Flavi Merobaudes que declara que fou igual en valentia que en saviesa, capaç de fer gran coses i de celebrar les dels altres, capaç de portar l'espasa i la ploma, i un valent i experimentat soldat. Aquesta estàtua fou erigida al fòrum el 29 de juliol del 435. Uns palimpsests del monestir de , trobats molt mutilats, li han estat atribuïts, cosa potser confirmada en un escrit de Sidoni Apol·linar que fa referència a aquesta estàtua. (ca)

Distinguido por el emperador Valentiniano III y por Aecio, del que fue íntimo colaborador y al que dedicó buena parte de su obra poética, incluyendo dos espléndidos panegíricos que solo se han conservado en parte. En 443 combatió con éxito a la bagauda en la provincia Tarraconense. Otro Merobaudes, magister militum y cónsul en 377 y 383, que vivió en la segunda mitad del siglo IV, casi con seguridad fue antepasado suyo. (es)
- Flavius Merobaudes war ein aus Hispanien stammender spätantiker lateinischer Dichter im 5. Jahrhundert. Merobaudes verherrlichte in einem Gedicht einen Triumph des römischen Heermeisters Aëtius. Als Dank dafür erhielt er eine Statue auf dem Trajansforum. Laut der erhalten gebliebenen Inschrift dieses Standbildes hatte Merobaudes den Rang eines vir spectabilis und war am Kaiserhof als tätig. Die wenigen von seinem Werk erhaltenen Fragmente lassen darauf schließen, dass Merobaudes vor allem Lobreden verfasste, also Panegyriker war. (de)

- Flavius Merobaudes was a 5th-century Latin rhetorician and poet. Merobaudes was a Roman of Frankish origin who was raised in Spain, and likely was a descendant of the famous general of the same name who flourished during the fourth century. He was the official laureate of Valentinian III and Aetius. Till the beginning of the 19th century he was known only from the notice of him in the Chronicle (year 443) of his contemporary Hydatius, where he is praised as a poet and orator, and mention is made of statues set up in his honour. In 1813 the base of a statue was discovered at Rome, with a long inscription belonging to the year 435 (CIL vi. 1724) upon Flavius Merobaudes, celebrating his merits as warrior and poet. Ten years later, B. G. Niebuhr discovered some Latin verses on a palimpsest in the monastery of St Gall, the authorship of which was traced to Merobaudes, owing to the great similarity of the language in the prose preface to that of the inscription. Formerly the only piece known under the name of Merobaudes was a short poem (30 hexameters) De Christo, attributed to him by one manuscript, to Claudian by another; but Ebert is inclined to dispute the claim of Merobaudes to be considered either the author of the De Christo or a Christian. The Panegyric and minor poems have been edited by Niebuhr (1824); by Immanuel Bekker in the Bonn Corpus scriptorum hist. (1836); the De Christo in T. Birt's Claudian (1892), where the authorship of Merobaudes is upheld; most recently F. Bücheler and A.
