Lee Siew Choh was noted for his pro-leftist stance oratory skills - making the longest speech ever in the Parliament of Singapore with seven hours, on the subject of Singapore's proposed merger with Malaya in 1961. In 1988 Barisan Sosialis merged with the Workers' Party for whom he stood as candidate. He did not win a constituency but entered the Singapore parliament as a non-constituency member due to the number of votes he received. He retired in 1991. He died in 18 July 2002 due to natural causes." (en)
