- John Yate Robinson (Lewisham, Londres, 6 d'agost de 1885 – Londres, 23 d'agost de 1916) va ser un jugador d'hoquei sobre herba anglès que va competir a principis del segle xx. El 1908 va prendre part en els Jocs Olímpics de Londres, on va guanyar la medalla d'or en la competició d'hoquei sobre herbal, com a membre de l'equip anglès. - John Yate Robinson MC (6 August 1885 – 23 August 1916) was a field hockey player, who won a gold medal with the English team at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. Son of clergyman the Reverend Edward Cecil Robinson and his wife Edith Isabella, he was educated at Radley College and Merton College, Oxford, where he was awarded his MA in 1912. He was on the Oxford University hockey team from 1905 through 1909, eventually captaining it. He became a captain in the North Staffordshire Regiment in 1914, and served at Gallipoli and in Mesopotamia. He was mentioned in despatches and awarded the Military Cross. He died aged 31 at Roehampton, from wounds he had received in action at in Mesopotamia. He was buried at Great Malvern Cemetery, Worcestershire. (en)

John Yate Robinson urodził się 6 sierpnia 1885 r. w Catford, w gminie London Borough of Lewisham jako jeden z siedmiu synów wikariusza Edwarda Cecila Robinsona i jego żony Edith Isabelli. Kształcił się w Radley College i Merton College w Oksfordzie, gdzie uzyskał tytuł magistra w 1912 r. Grał w drużynie hokejowej Uniwersytetu Oksfordzkiego od 1905 do 1909. W 1909 r. został jej kapitanem. Jego brat bliźniak Laurence był kapitanem drużyny University of Cambridge w 1908 r. a brat Huhg w 1912 r. John grał dziewięć razy dla Anglii w latach 1907–1911. Po opuszczeniu uniwersytetu John był nauczycielem, najpierw w Sherborne, a następnie przez krótki czas w Broadstairs, zanim został powołany do 7. batalionu, regimentu księcia Walii North Staffordshire Regiment.
