- James Fallows (Filadèlfia, Pennsilvània, 2 d'agost de 1949) és un periodista estatunidenc que ha treballat durant molts anys a i ha escrit una desena de llibres. En un moment on era difícil aconseguir visats per entrar a la Xina, Fallows i la seva família van aprendre esperanto al Japó amb James E. Lieberman, el llavors president de la Lliga Esperantista dels EUA. Així van aconseguir participar en el Congrés Mundial de 1986 a Beijing, fets que explica al seu llibre Postcards from Tomorrow Square: Reports from China. Des de llavors ha escrit en diverses ocasions defensant l'ús d'aquesta llengua auxiliar internacional. James Fallows ha publicat articles als principals diaris estatunidencs, com The New York Times, The New York Review of Books o The New Yorker. També ha estat l'editor de l'US News and World Report. Els seus articles més influents han tractat temes de política militar, la tecnologia, la Xina i el Japó, i la Guerra de l'Iraq. Ha estat finalista del National Magazine Award cinc vegades, premi que va obtenir el 2003, per "The Fifty-First State?" (The Atlantic, novembre 2002). - James Mackenzie Fallows (born August 2, 1949) is an American writer and journalist. He is a former national correspondent for The Atlantic. His work has also appeared in Slate, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, The New Yorker and The American Prospect, among others. He is a former editor of U.S. News & World Report, and as President Jimmy Carter's chief speechwriter for two years was the youngest person ever to hold that job. Fallows has been a visiting professor at a number of universities in the U.S. and China, and has held the Chair in U.S. Media at the United States Studies Centre at University of Sydney. He is the author of eleven books, including National Defense (1981), for which he received the 1983 National Book Award, Looking at the Sun (1994), Breaking the News (1996), Blind into Baghdad (2006), Postcards from Tomorrow Square (2009), China Airborne (2012), and the national best-seller Our Towns (2018), which was co-written with his wife, Deborah Fallows, and made into an HBO documentary of the same name in 2021.
