- The IRT Sixth Avenue Line, often called the Sixth Avenue Elevated or Sixth Avenue El, was the second elevated railway in Manhattan in New York City, following the Ninth Avenue Elevated. The line ran south of Central Park, mainly along Sixth Avenue. Beyond the park, trains continued north on the Ninth Avenue Line. (en)
- L'IRT Sixth Avenue Line ou Sixth Avenue Elevated (parfois abrégé en Sixth Avenue El) était une ligne de métro aérienne de l'arrondissement de Manhattan, à New York. Le projet initial de la ligne, qui fut la seconde plus vieille ligne de métro de Manhattan, fut développé par la Gilbert Elevated Railway Company, (devenue Metropolitan Elevated Railway) qui gérait également l'IRT Second Avenue Line, et qui fut rattachée à la Manhattan Railway Company le 20 mai 1879. Ce n'est que lorsque l'Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) prit à bail le contrôle du réseau du Manhattan Railway le 1er avril 1903 que la ligne prit son nom définitif. Comme son nom l'indique, la ligne circulait en partie au-dessus de la Sixième Avenue, au sud de Central Park. Au nord, la ligne empruntait les mêmes voies que l'IRT Ninth Avenue Line. Alors que l'IRT était en proie à des difficultés financières dans les années 1930, la ligne fut utilisée pour la dernière fois le 4 décembre 1938. (fr)

Nel 1938, venne acquista dalla città di New York e chiusa il 4 dicembre dello stesso anno. Fu infine smantellata nel 1939, ormai sostituita dalla linea IND Sixth Avenue, aperta tra il 1936 e il 1940. Бо́льшая часть линии была построена в 1878 году и закрыта в 1938. Эта линия была самой короткой из четырёх эстакадных линий Ай-ар-ти на Манхэттене, она ответвлялась от линии Девятой авеню и примыкала к ней же. Она проходила через самый центр Манхэттена, создавая неудобства шумом и вибрацией от поездов, а кроме того мешала строительству подземной линии, поэтому была закрыта первой из эстакадных линий Манхэттена, ещё до 1940 года, когда город объединил под своим началом все линии метро.
