- "High Hopes" és l'onzena i última cançó de l'àlbum The Division Bell de Pink Floyd, composta per David Gilmour, amb lletra de Polly Samson, parla de les coses que un pot haver guanyat i perdut durant la vida, des del punt de vista autobiogràfic de Gilmour. Gilmour ha dit que la cançó parla més dels seus primers anys i deixar enrere la seva ciutat natal que la llavor de divisió suposadament plantada als inicis de Pink Floyd. La cançó també apareix en una versió més reduïda a l'àlbum de compilació Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd de l'any 2001. High Hopes comença amb acords que segueixen la tonalitat en do menor. Al llarg de tota la cançó, de fons, sona una campana en do (excepte en una curta secció a la meitat, on la cançó modula a mi menor per un solo de guitarra). Poc després que acabi la cançó acabi i s'afebleixi el so de les campanes, s'escolta breument una trucada entre el mànager de Pink Floyd, Steve O'Rourke, i el fill de Gilmour, concloent així l'àlbum The Division Bell. Els dos últims versos de la cançó ("The endless river/Forever and ever") fan referència a una frase del segon senzill del grup, "See Emily Play", del 1967, ("Float on a river/Forever and ever") i van inspirar el nom de l'últim àlbum d'estudi de la banda, The Endless River, llançat el 2014. Singl „High Hopes“ byl rovněž vydán i na sedmipalcové gramofonové desce v limitované edici. Tato verze je od EP a CD odlišná, neboť obsahuje pouze mírně upravené a především zkrácené písně „High Hopes“ a „Keep Talking“. Finálne dvojverší skladby ("The endless river/Forever and ever") připomína linku z druhého singlu skupiny „See Emily Play“ z roku 1967 ("Float down a river forever and ever") a také inspirovalo název jejich poslední studiové desky The Endless River vydané v roce 2014. It is the closing track on their fourteenth studio album, The Division Bell (1994); it was released as the second single from the album on 17 October 1994. An accompanying music video was made for the song and was directed by Storm Thorgerson. Douglas Adams, a friend of Gilmour, chose the title for The Division Bell from one verse in this song. Live versions are featured on Pink Floyd's Pulse, as well as Gilmour's In Concert, Remember That Night, Live in Gdańsk and Live at Pompeii releases. On Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd, a somewhat shortened version of the song segues into Syd Barrett's "Bike". The segue is accomplished by cutting from the church bell at the end of "High Hopes" to a new bicycle bell sound effect before "Bike" begins. A 7-inch vinyl version of the single was released on a transparent record. A demo recording of the song appeared on the 2018 box set The Later Years and was released as one of the preview tracks. Unlike the album version, this features the final solo played on a regular electric guitar instead of a lapsteel. This song would be the last original recording of Pink Floyd until 2022's "Hey, Hey, Rise Up!" (en)
