- Guild Wars Factions is a fantasy action role-playing game and the second stand-alone campaign in the Guild Wars series developed by ArenaNet, a subsidiary of NCSOFT corporation. It serves as both a standalone game and first expansion pack to the base game, which is referred to as Prophecies. Simply referred to as Factions, it introduces the continent of Cantha, inspired by East Asian cultures, where two warring factions, the Luxons and the Kurzicks, are locked in a global persistent war. Players are able to join in this conflict, assisting their chosen faction in claiming towns on the game map. Factions introduced a new PvE campaign, two new professions in addition to the original six, new skills and armor for existing professions, new gameplay modes for both PvE and PvP, and gameplay modifications in response to criticism of the earlier Prophecies campaign. Most of the PvP content from Prophecies is available to Factions-only accounts. (en)

Tras los sucesos de Guild Wars: Prophecies, el continente Cantha requiere de nuevos héroes para servir al Imperio Dragón contra la epidemia de apestados que esta convirtiendo a sus ciudadanos canthianos en seres malignos demoniacos. En este juegos se añaden dos nuevas profesiones, el asesino y ritualista, adicionalmente se añaden nuevas habilidades propias que son exclusivas en Factions que complementan las ya existentes en Prophecies. Los héroes creados en Factions comenzarán su aventura en el monasterio de Shing Jea que serán guiados por el Maestro Togo, donde serán testigos de aparición de la epidemia traída por Shiro el Traidor. Mientras tanto, los héroes creados en Prophecies son invitados para ayudar contra la epidemia y apoyar al Maestro Togo a combatir los planes malévolos de Shiro Tagashi. En la aventura, los personajes conocerán la corrupción burocrática del Imperio del Dragón, la batalla de pandillas urbanas, el rencor de los Tengu y la lucha de naciones vasallas de Luxons contra Kurzicks, donde el jugador debe unir ambas naciones contra Shiro Tagashi. - Guild Wars: Factions – gra komputerowa, będąca drugą kampanią z serii Guild Wars. Osią fabuły jest historia Shiro Tagachiego, byłego ochroniarza cesarza Kintaju (ang. Cantha), który 200 lat przed wydarzeniami w kampanii zamordował cesarza. Za ten czyn został skazany na śmierć. Kiedy umierał, Shiro Tagachi wydał z siebie okrzyk, który spowodował zamianę wszystkich mórz w jadeit, a także skamienienie lasów. 200 lat po tych wydarzeniach powraca i postanawia zawładnąć Kintajem. Celem gracza jest powstrzymanie go. Oprócz tego historia opowiada losy dwóch wrogich frakcji - Luxonów (podróżujących po morzach jadeitu), a także Kurzików (żyjących w lasach), które walczą ze sobą o zasoby Kintaju - czyli przede wszystkim jadeit i bursztyn. Powodem trwającego 200 lat konfliktu jest spór o to, który z czempionów (Luxoński Archemorus czy Kurzickowy Wiktor) zabił Shiro Tagachiego. Gracz musi stanąć przed wyborym jednej z tych frakcji. (pl)
