- Die Grupo Independiente Liberal (abgekürzt: GIL, auf deutsch: Unabhängige Liberale Gruppe) ist eine regionale spanische Partei, die von dem Politiker Jesús Gil (1933–2004) gegründet wurde, dessen Nachnamen gezielt das Akronym der stark personenzentrierten Partei bildete. Die Partei wurde 1991 in Marbella ins Leben gerufen und gewann im gleichen Jahr die Kommunalwahlen deutlich. Jesús Gil wurde neuer Bürgermeister und baute Marbella zum neuen Ziel des internationalen Jetset an der Costa del Sol aus. In der Folge der Korruptionsanklagen gegen Jesús Gil und dessen Nachfolger Julián Muñoz (Bürgermeister 2002–2003) und Marisol Yagüe (Bürgermeisterin 2003–2006) verlor die Partei an Einfluss. Bei den Kommunalwahlen am 27. Mai 2007 verlor sie sämtliche Vertreter im Stadtrat von Marbella. (de)
- The Liberal Independent Group (Spanish: Grupo Independiente Liberal, GIL) was a right-wing Spanish political party, founded in 1991 by the businessman Jesús Gil y Gil who was mayor of Marbella in the Costa del Sol, and convicted of corruption. "GIL", the acronym of the party's name in Spanish, is a play on words, as it references the surname of the party's founder, Jesus Gil. GIL governed Marbella beginning in 1991 on a platform of fighting petty crime and carrying out public ornamental works in the city. At the same time, Marbella was known as a refuge for British, Italian and Russian crime lords. After Gil was removed by a Spanish tribunal on charges of political corruption, Julián Muñoz, (also known for his romance with singer Isabel Pantoja), assumed the mayoralty of the city. He was later ousted by GIL members supporting with the help of a turncoat Spanish Socialist Workers' Party councillor who had been a vocal critic of corruption. In March 2006, Yagüe and most of her administration were brought to trial on charges of corruption concerning their management of urban development and planning permissions in Marbella. In April 2006, the Spanish government initiated procedures to forcibly dissolve the council, an unprecedented movement in the history of recent Spanish democracy. GIL also established a strong presence in Estepona, Ceuta and Melilla. Gilismo ("gilism") has been identified as an italianized populism and as example of the berlusconization of Spanish politics, and along the political experiences of José María Ruiz Mateos and Mario Conde, as an example of protestary populism in Spain. - El Grupo Independiente Liberal (GIL) fue un partido político de España fundado en 1991 en Marbella por el empresario Jesús Gil y Gil. Cesó su actividad política en 2007 al no poder presentarse a las elecciones municipales de dicho año debido a los numerosos casos de corrupción e irregularidades cometidas por miembros del Ayuntamiento de Marbella, dirigido por la formación política, como el caso Malaya. Fue una formación política de carácter populista y personalista que se postulaba como una «tercera vía» entre el Partido Popular y el PSOE. El himno propagandístico del partido era la canción «The Final Countdown» de Europe, conocida en Marbella como «el tiroriro». El gilismo ha sido identificado como representante en España, junto a las experiencias políticas de Mario Conde y José María Ruiz-Mateos, de un populismo protestatario, además de como un ejemplo de berlusconización de la política española. - Il Gruppo Indipendente Liberale (in spagnolo Grupo Independiente Liberal, GIL) è stato un partito politico spagnolo di estrema destra, a carattere populista, fondato nel 1991 dall'imprenditore Jesús Gil. Il 26 maggio 1991 ottenne la maggioranza assoluta alle elezioni comunali di Marbella (19 seggi su 25), eleggendo quindi come sindaco Jesús Gil; ha poi ottenuto la maggioranza altre due volte (nel 1995 e nel 1999), governando fino al 2003 con come sindaco. Dal 1998 al 2001 il GIL ha inoltre governato anche la città di Ceuta. Si è presentato per due volte alle elezioni legislative (quelle del 1993 e quelle del 2000), ottenendo rispettivamente lo 0,07% (16 452 voti) e lo 0,31% (72 162 voti). (it)
