- Errekaleor is a neighbourhood on the periphery of Vitoria-Gasteiz, in the Basque Country, Spain. It sits on the plateau created by the Errekaleor river, which is part of the Green Belt of Vitoria-Gasteiz. From 2013 onwards, the area was occupied by squatters and became known as Errekaleor Bizirik (Errekaleor Alive). The project is based on the principles of workers' self-management (autogestión), consensus based decision making, feminism, anti-capitalism and Basque cultural re-invigoration. The neighbourhood is the largest occupied space of its type on the Iberian Peninsula, with over 10 hectares of land and 150 inhabitants. Residents include children, the elderly, blue-collar workers, the unemployed, students, and teachers. The project includes an organic farm of 2 hectares, a bakery, a bar, a social centre, a library, a theatre, a free shop, a recording studio, and other projects. The area is made up of 32 blocks (Basque: 'bloke', Spanish: 'bloques') that hold six apartments each, as well as a number of buildings that were built as part of the original development, such as a school, church and shops, which have now been renovated by the Errekaleor Bizirik community. The neighbourhood has existed since the 1950s, but fell into disrepair and was largely abandoned after the Vitoria-Gasteiz city government evicted the original residents in order to develop the area with modern apartment complexes. Due to the European debt crisis, these plans were never carried out, and the area was almost entirely unused for years before the occupation began. (en)
- Errekaleor, hasiera batean Un mundo mejor deitua, Gasteizko auzo bat da, Arabako hiriburuan kokatua (Euskal Herria). XX. mendeko erdialdean eraikitako auzoa zen jatorrizko proiektuan, langileentzat zuzendutako etxebizitzak izanik. Gasteizko hegoaldearen garapen urbanistikoaren ondorioz, bere biztanleriaren irtenaraztea agindu zen Salburuko auzo berrian birkokatzeko eta Errekaleor eraisteko asmoz. Eraikuntza modernoak egiteko asmoa zen, gaur egungo auzoa bikoiztu egingo zutelarik, eta planifikatutako lursailek Gasteizko Eraztun Berdean sartuko ziren. Bertan Errekaleorreko parkea egingo zen, Salburua (iparraldean) eta Olarizuko (hegoaldean) parkeak konektatuko zituena. 2013an, auzokideen birkokatze prozesua ia amaituta zegoenean, EHUko Gasteizko campuseko ikasle batzuek okupatu zuten, horrela Errekaleor Bizirik proiektua sortuz: Estatuan garatutako autokudeaketa esperientzia handiena. - Errekaleor, inicialmente llamado "Un mundo mejor", es un barrio de la ciudad de Vitoria, capital de la provincia de Álava en el País Vasco, España. Fue una urbanización levantada a las afueras de la ciudad destinada a viviendas para los trabajadores de la expansión industrial que inició a partir de la década de los años 50 del siglo XX. En ese lugar se ubicaba un miliario de Póstumo de la Vía XXXIV, Asturica Burdigalam del Itinerario de Antonino y en sus inmediaciones estaba , una domus romana situada a orillas de la calzada romana . Surgido en la década de 1950 como barrio habitacional para las familias obreras llegadas a la ciudad en el primer desarrollo industrial de la misma, el barrio fue incluido, en los primeros años del siglo XXI, en el desarrollo urbanístico del sur de la ciudad por lo que se decretó el realojamiento de sus habitantes para su posterior demolición y reconstrucción como parte integrante del nuevo barrio de Salburua. Se reconstruiría con modernos edificios que albergarían el doble de viviendas que las que posee el barrio actual. Parte de sus terrenos fueron incluidos en la planificación del Anillo Verde de Vitoria. En ellos se construiría el parque de Errekaleor que uniría los parques de , al sur, y Salburua al norte. En el año 2013, una vez prácticamente finalizado el proceso de realojamiento de sus habitantes, fue ocupado por estudiantes del campus de Vitoria de la Universidad del País Vasco dando lugar a la mayor experiencia alternativa de autogestión desarrollada en España en la historia reciente denominada Errekaleor Bizirik (Errekaleor vivo). - Errekaleor, initialement appelé « Un meilleur monde », est un quartier de la ville de Vitoria-Gasteiz, capitale de la province d’Alava au Pays basque, Espagne. C’était une urbanisation bâtie dans la périphérie de la ville et destinée à loger les travailleurs de l’expansion industrielle qui commença à partir des années 1950. Étant inclus dans le développement urbanistique du sud de Vitoria-Gasteiz, le relogement de ses habitants a été décrété pour être postérieurement démoli et reconstruit comme une partie intégrante du nouveau quartier de Salburua. Une reconstruction avec des bâtiments modernes qui comporterait le double de logements que le quartier actuel. Une partie de ses terrains furent inclus dans la planifications de l’Anneau vert de Vitoria. Le parc d’Errekaleor serait construit dans ces terrains et unirait les parcs d’Olarizu au sud et Salburua au nord. En 2013, une fois fini le relogement des habitants, Errekaleor a été occupé par des étudiant(e)s du campus de Vitoria-Gasteiz de l’université du Pays basque (UPV-EHU), créant ainsi la plus grande expérience alternative d’autogestion développée dans l’État Espagnol dans l’histoire récente.
