- La Roca de Dighton és una roca de 40 tm, que es trobava originalment a la ribera del riu Taunton, Berkley (Massachusetts) (abans part de Dighton). Va ser portada allà, probablement durant l'última edat de gel. La Roca de Dighton és coneguda per la controvèrsia que hi ha sobre la misteriosa tallada en la roca. El 1963, la pedra va ser traslladada des de la riba del riu. Durant els darrers tres segles s'han proposat moltes teories sobre l'origen de les inscripcions d'aquesta roca:

Nel 1963, durante la costruzione di un , ossia una barriera temporanea utilizzata per la costruzione delle fondazioni di una diga, ufficiali statali rimossero la roccia dal letto del fiume in modo da garantirne la conservazione. Pokryty jest tajemniczymi petroglifami, uważanymi przez badaczy za częściowe archeologiczne fałszerstwo. Obecnie umieszczony jest na ekspozycji w lokalnym muzeum. Mimo iż na terenie Ameryki Północnej znane są podobne indiańskie petroglify, kamień z Dighton stał się przedmiotem pseudohistorycznych spekulacji, przypisujących autorstwo rysunków rzekomym prekolumbijskim odkrywcom Nowego Świata. Wiązano go z wikingami, mieszkańcami Półwyspu Iberyjskiego, a według Gavina Menziesa wykonali je Chińczycy z mającej opłynąć świat wyprawy Zheng He. Zdaniem naukowców są to autentyczne indiańskie petroglify, które zostały jednak w znacznym stopniu sfałszowane. W 1680 roku jeden z angielskich osadników, John Danforth, wykonał szkice pokrywających kamień rytów. Ilustracje Danfortha znacznie różnią się jednak od współcześnie znajdujących się na powierzchni kamienia petroglifów. Dało to podstawę to wysunięcia zarzutu, iż zwolennicy historii alternatywnej celowo „poprawiali” ryty. (pl)

Para evitar os danos provocados pelo vandalismo, pela erosão das marés e pelos efeitos da variação térmica, em 1963, a rocha foi removida do rio e classificada como objecto protegido pelo Estado de Massachusetts.
