- The Ceará State University (Portuguese: Universidade Estadual do Ceará, UECE) is a public university in the Brazilian state of Ceará. It is the second largest university in Ceará, the eighth best state university in Brazil and considered the best state university in the North, Northeast and Center-West of the country. Established in 1975 by the Act No. 9.753 which authorizes the State Executive Branch to create Ceará State Educational Foundation (FUNEDUCE), UECE is the largest state university of Ceará. It is involved in teaching, research and science outreach in many areas of knowledge. Its structure consists of a network of campuses that privileges the courses aimed at the training of teachers. The undergraduate programs in Business Administration, Accounting and Psychology are among the best in the country according to Students Performance National Exam (Enade). On January 27, 2021, the then governor of Ceará, Camilo Santana, authorized the start of construction of the Ceará University Hospital (HUC), which will be the largest hospital in the state. The unit will be built within the Itaperi campus and will be deeply integrated with the university, whether in physical, urban or academic aspects. Nevertheless, the university also has the largest veterinary hospital in the North Northeast located on the Itaperi campus and linked to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Favet). According to the 2019 Folha de S.Paulo University Ranking (RUF), it is considered the 9th best state university in Brazil, and the best state university in the North, Northeast and Midwest regions. By this same ranking, it is the 55th best Brazilian university. In 2013, it was the state's top-rated higher education institution in the (Enade). In addition, the courses of Administration, Psychology and were among the best in the country. In 2021 the Times Higher Education (THE) published The Impact Rankings 2021 and the Latin America University Rankings 2021, which place Uece 92nd in the world and 4th in Brazil in "Quality Education" and one of the best universities in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is also the only Brazilian university cited in the Bright Green Book, the 21st Century Green Book, a partnership between the Euro-Brazilian Council for Sustainable Development (EUBRA) and UN-Habitat, the urban settlements program of the United Nations. It has ten campuses, two of them in Fortaleza (the main campus is called Campus do Itaperi). - A Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE) é uma universidade pública brasileira, com atuação em ensino, pesquisa e extensão, mantida pela Fundação Universidade Estadual do Ceará (FUNECE) e considerada a melhor universidade estadual do Norte, Nordeste e Centro-Oeste. A instituição é uma das três universidades mantidas pelo governo do estado do Ceará, ao lado da Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú (UVA) e da Universidade Regional do Cariri (URCA). Seu principal campus é o Campus Itaperi, que está localizado no bairro do Itaperi, na cidade de Fortaleza. A universidade conta ainda com campi no Bairro de Fátima e 25 de março, em Fortaleza, e nas cidades de Mombaça, Limoeiro do Norte, Itapipoca, Tauá, Crateús, Quixadá, Quixeramobim, Canindé, Aracati, Pacoti, Guaiúba e Iguatu . Criada em 1975, a partir de institutos de ensino superior isolados que existiam em várias regiões do estado, a UECE possui atualmente cerca de 19 mil estudantes e 1.000 professores espalhados por 12 centros e faculdades, que oferecem 77 cursos de graduação presenciais e a distância, 29 mestrados, 15 doutorados, 154 grupos de pesquisa atuantes em 138 laboratórios e 57 projetos de extensão. Em 27 de janeiro de 2021, o então governador do Ceará, Camilo Santana, autorizou o início das obras do Hospital Universitário do Ceará (HUC), o qual será o maior hospital do estado. A unidade será construída dentro do campus do Itaperi e se integrará à universidade de forma profunda, seja no aspecto físico, seja no urbanístico ou no acadêmico. Não obstante, a universidade também possui o maior hospital veterinário do norte nordeste localizado no campus do Itaperi e ligado à Faculdade de Veterinária (Favet) . De acordo com o Ranking Universitário da Folha de S.Paulo (RUF) de 2019, é considerada a 9ª melhor universidade estadual do Brasil, sendo a melhor universidade estadual das regiões Norte, Nordeste e Centro-Oeste. Por este mesmo ranking, é a 55ª melhor universidade brasileira. Em 2013, foi a instituição de ensino superior do Estado melhor avaliada no Exame Nacional de Desempenho de Estudantes (Enade). Além disso, os cursos de Administração, Psicologia e Ciências Contábeis figuraram entre os melhores do país. Em 2021 a Times Higher Education (THE) publicou o The Impact Rankings 2021 e o Latin America University Rankings 2021, que colocam a Uece em 92º lugar do mundo e em 4º lugar do Brasil em “Educação de Qualidade” e em uma das melhores universidades da América Latina e do Caribe. Também é a única universidade brasileira citada no Bright Green Book, o Livro Verde do Século XXI, uma parceria entre o Conselho Euro-Brasileiro de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (EUBRA) e a ONU-Habitat, o programa de assentamentos urbanos da Organização das Nações Unidas .
