- The Castle of Burgos was a castle and alcázar, located in the city of Burgos, in the hill of San Miguel to 75 metres (246 ft) above the city and to 981 metres (3,219 ft) above the sea. This hill was the subject of archaeological surveys by General Centeno in the years 1925 and 1926 trying to find Napoleonic military files from when the French in their retreat blew up the fortress. According to the results obtained in this excavation the origin of the castle dates to the Visigoths, and its oldest parts, to the Romans. The castle grew over the centuries, becoming a major fortification and residence of the kings of Castile. Following the accession of the Habsburg family the castle lost its importance as a royal residence, and during the French occupation, on June 15, 1813, the French army decided to leave the Castle of Burgos, and they destroyed it with explosives. The explosion resulted in the almost total destruction of all the castle grounds. The castle remains in ruins. (en)

- El castillo de Burgos es una fortaleza situada en la ciudad española de Burgos. Se encuentra en la cumbre del cerro del Castillo, elevado 75 m sobre el nivel de la ciudad. La primera torre fue levantada por el conde Diego Porcelos en los tiempos de la Reconquista, en el año 884. Conforme fue aumentando la importancia del emplazamiento defensivo, se dio paso a un castillo y a elementos defensivos más complejos. (es)
- Het Kasteel van Burgos ligt in de Spaanse stad Burgos. Het is gebouwd op de top van een kleine berg, Cerro del Castillo, en steekt zo’n 75 meter boven de stad uit. De eerste toren werd gebouwd door graaf Diego Porcelos aan het begin van de reconquista in 884. In de loop der tijd is het bouwwerk sterk aangepast en uitgebreid om te voldoen aan nieuwe functies en andere aanvalstechnieken. Изначально замок строился как защитное сооружение, позднее утратил своё военное значение. Альфонсо VIII Кастильский достроил сооружение, добавив элементы мудехарского стиля. После замок использовался как тюрьма. При Энрике IV в середине XV века началась перестройка замка во дворец, были расширены жилые помещения, построена часовня. В 1739 году замок получил серьёзные повреждения при пожаре. 13 июня 1813 года он был взят английскими войсками под командованием Артура Уэлсли Веллингтона. Во время гражданской войны в 1930-е годы Бургосский замок также находился в эпицентре военных действий и был разрушен, но после Второй мировой войны частично восстановлен.
