- وقعت معركة النجف في 28 يناير / كانون الثاني 2007 في بالقرب من النجف في العراق، بين قوات الأمن العراقية (التي ساعدتها فيما بعد القوات المسلحة الأمريكية والبريطانية) والمقاتلين، الذين اعتقدوا في البداية أنهم من المتمردين العراقيين ولكن تم الإبلاغ لاحقًا عن أنهم أعضاء في جماعة الإسلام الشيعية جند السماء، الذين انضموا إلى تجمع للمصلين - أو حسب روايات أخرى، كانت نزاعًا أصلاً بين نقطة تفتيش تابعة للقوات الحكومية العراقية و200 حاج مسلح، والتي توسعت بعد ذلك لتشمل السكان المحليين، ومجموعة جند السماء، والقوات البريطانية والأمريكية. - Další bitva o Nadžaf probíhala ve městě Zarqa (alt. Zargo) nedaleko iráckého města Nadžaf ve dnech 28. a 29. ledna 2007. Irácké bezpečnostní složky (později podporované americkými a britskými vojsky) se v ní dostaly do střetu se šíitskými ozbrojenci ze sekty Nebeští vojáci. (cs)

Zarga) near Najaf, Iraq, betweenIraqi Security Forces (later assisted by U.S. and UK forces) and fighters, initially thought to be Iraqi insurgents but later reported to be members of the Shia Islam cult Soldiers of Heaven, who had joined a gathering of worshippers — or, by other accounts, a conflict, originally between an Iraqi government forces checkpoint and 200 armed pilgrims, which then expanded to include local residents, the Soldiers of Heaven group, and UK and U.S. forces. Reportedly, over 250 cult members and 11-25 members of the Iraqi security forces, and two U.S. soldiers were killed. (en)
