- باب الجابية من أبواب دمشق الرومانية في الطرف الغربي للمدينة، وهو مكرّس لكوكب المشتري الذي يمثّل الإله (جوپيتر) ، وكانت له ثلاث بوابات، الوسطى كبيرة، وعلى طرفيها بوابتان أصغر، ومن هذا الباب دخل أبو عبيدة بن الجرّاح صلحا عند فتح دمشق سنة 14 ه. وقد جدّد أيام نور الدين الشهيد وعمل له باشورة سنة 560 ه ، ثم أيام الملك الناصر داوود الأيوبي. واليوم لم يبق من الأبواب الثلاثة سوى الباب الجنوبي الصغير. أمّا حول اسمه فقد نسبه المؤرّخون العرب إلى قرية الجابية في إقليم الجيدور الغربي بحوران لأن الخارج إليها يخرج منه، وهذا وهم فالاسم محرّف بالتواتر عن اسم جوپيتر الإله الروماني. - Bab al-Jabiya (Arabic: بَابُ الْجَابِيَّةِ, romanized: Bāb al-Jābīyah; Gate of the Water Trough) is one of the seven ancient city-gates of Damascus, Syria. During the Roman era, the gate was dedicated to Mars. Bab al-Jabiya was the main entrance on the city's west side. The gate opens on Medhat Pasha Souq, which is the modern western half of the Street Called Straight, the Roman east-west artery (decumanus), which still connects it to Bab Sharqi (the Roman "Gate of the Sun"). The gate's modern name dates to the Umayyad period and comes from the name of Jabiyah in the Golan Heights, then the capital city of the Ghassanids, allies of the Roman Empire. (en)

In epoca romana la porta era dedicata a Marte. Bab al-Jabiya era l'ingresso principale sul lato ovest della città. La porta si apre su Midhat Pasha souq, che è la moderna metà occidentale della Via chiamata Diritta, l'arteria romana est-ovest (decumanus), che ancora la collega a Bab Sharqi (la "Porta del Sole" romana). Il nome moderno della porta risale al periodo omayyade e deriva dal nome di Jabiyah nelle Alture del Golan, allora capitale dei Ghassanidi, alleati dell'Impero Romano. (it)
- Баб-эль-Джабия — одни из семи городских ворот на западе старого города Дамаска. В римскую эпоху ворота были посвящены богу Марсу. Баб-эль-Джабия — главный вход в западную часть города. Ворота открываются на рынок Медхат-Паша, который является современной западной половиной Прямой улицы, ориентированной с востока на запад (декуманус), которая до сих пор соединяет их с Баб Шарки (римские «Ворота Солнца»). Современное название ворот относится к периоду Омейядов и происходит от названия Джабии на Голанских высотах, тогда столицы Гассанидов, союзников Римской империи. (ru)
