- القرش القطي الأطلسي هو نوع غير معروف من أسماك القرش القطية، والتي توجد في منطقة صغيرة من شمال شرق المحيط الأطلسي، وتتركز في مضيق جبل طارق وبحر البوران، كما توجد في الجزء السفلي من المنحدر القاري أو بالقرب منه، ويعيش معظمها على أعماق تتراوح ما بين 400-600 متر (1300-2000 قدم). يشبه هذا النوع من الأسماك أسماك القرش إلى حد كبير، وكان يُعتقد أنه من نفس نوع سمك القرش الأسود فكلاهما له جسم نحيف يتميز بوجود سلسلة من السروج الداكنة والبقع على طول الظهر والذيل، كما أن له قمة بارزة من الأسنان الجلدية المتضخمة على طول الحافة الظهرية للزعنفة الذيلية، ولكنه يختلف عنه في طول الخطم وعمق السويقة الذيلية ولون الأخاديد الموجودة عند زاوية الفم. يكون نمط التكاثر في هذا النوع من الأسماك بيوضي حيث تبيض إناث أسماك القرش الأطلسية منشارية الذيل وتحمل عدة بيضات ناضجة في وقت واحد، ويحدث التزاوج والتفريخ على مدار السنة. يتم اصطياد هذا النوع عرضيًا عن طريق مصايد الأسماك التجارية في المياه العميقة في جميع أنحاء نطاقه. لا توجد دراسات مؤكدة حتى الآن بشأن تأثير ضغط الصيد على أعداد سمك القرش القطي الأطلسي، ولكن نظرًا لتوزيعه المحدود، فقد صنفه الاتحاد الدولي للحفاظ على الطبيعة (IUCN) باعتباره يوشك أن يكون مهددا بالانقراض. - The Atlantic sawtail catshark (Galeus atlanticus) is a little-known species of catshark, part of the family Scyliorhinidae, found in a small area of the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, centered on the Strait of Gibraltar and the Alborán Sea. It is found on or close to the bottom over the continental slope, mostly at depths of 400–600 m (1,300–2,000 ft). This shark closely resembles, and was once thought to be the same species as, the blackmouth catshark (G. melastomus); both are slender with a series of dark saddles and blotches along the back and tail, and a prominent crest of enlarged dermal denticles along the dorsal edge of the caudal fin. It differs subtly from G. melastomus in characters including snout length, caudal peduncle depth, and the color of the furrows at the corner of its mouth. Reproduction in the Atlantic sawtail catshark is oviparous, with females carrying multiple maturing eggs at once. Mating and spawning occur year-round. This species is caught incidentally by commercial deepwater fisheries throughout its range, but the impact of fishing pressure on its population is uncertain as it is not recorded separately from G. melastomus. Given its restricted distribution, it has been assessed as Near Threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). (en)

- Galeus atlanticus är en hajart som först beskrevs av 1888. Galeus atlanticus ingår i släktet Galeus och familjen rödhajar. Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life. Arten förekommer i västra Medelhavet, i Gibraltarsundet och i angränsande områden av Atlanten från södra Spanien och Portugal till norra Marocko. Ett exemplar upptäcktes vid Mauretanien. Galeus atlanticus vistas vanligen i regioner som ligger 300 till 750 meter under havsytan och ibland kommer den fram till vattenytan. Hannar och honor blir könsmogna vid en längd något kortare än 40 cm och full utvecklade exemplar är ungefär 45 cm långa. Honans ägg har en diameter av 11 till 13 mm men de är utrustade med ett broskigt skyddshölje och hela strukturen kan ha en diameter av 40 mm. Galeus atlanticus förekommer ibland som bifångst vid fiske på andra arter. På grund av den begränsade utbredningen listas hela beståndet av IUCN som nära hotad (NT). (sv)
