- Artivisme és una combinació dels mots "art" i "activisme". L'artivisme s'ha desenvolupat en paral·lel amb l'antiglobalització i les protestes contràries a la guerra. En la major part dels casos els artivistes intenten pressionar l'agenda política mitjançant l'acció de l'art. No és art polític en el sentit tradicional, en què les obres d'art eren polítiques. L'artivista sovint s'involucra en o Art urbà, o . En alguns casos, com per exemple a París el 2003, els artivistes són detinguts per accions d'art polític que s'acosten a la destrucció de la propietat. Un objectiu a curt termini típic dels artivistes és reclamar l'espai públic, especialment destruint anuncis en zones urbanes o en mitjans de transport públics. No obstant això, els artivistes participen en diversos mitjans com internet no només per a accions destructives -que serien descrites com a hacktivisme. Sovint ens podem referir als actes dels artivistes com a part del concepte més ample d'interferència cultural, Culture jamming. Artivisme social: Art urbà que vol inspirar bons sentiments a la gent escrivint cartes anònimes. Aquests misatges d'ànim i consol van enrotllats amb un cordill, doblegats com una crispeta de pergamí, decorats amb dibuixos al·legòrics sobre la solitud i l'aïllament. es deixen abandonats en un caixer automàtic, en una màquina expenedora de bitllets de metro...El fet que siguin gent anònima, forma part del misteri i fa que es produeixi la màgia.Aquest fet produeix un efecte en cadena, gent que rep un missatge que li serveix de confort es converteix en uu nou artivista. - Artivism is a portmanteau word combining art and activism, and is sometimes also referred to as Social Artivism. The term artivism in US English takes roots, or branches, off of a 1997 gathering between Chicano artists from East Los Angeles and the Zapatistas in Chiapas, Mexico. The words "Artivist" and "Artivism" were popularized through a variety of events, actions and artworks via artists and musicians such as Quetzal, Ozomatli, and Mujeres de Maiz, among other East Los Angeles artists, and at spaces such as Self Help Graphics & Art. Artivism further developed as antiwar and anti-globalization protests emerged and proliferated. In many cases artivists attempt to push political agendas by the means of art, but a focus on raising social, environmental, and technical awareness is also common. Besides using traditional mediums like film and music to raise awareness or push for change, an artivist can also be involved in culture jamming, subvertising, street art, spoken word, protesting, and activism. Artivist Eve Ensler stated: ... This passion has all the ingredients of activism, but is charged with the wild creations of art. Artivism—where edges are pushed, imagination is freed, and a new language emerges altogether." Bruce Lyons has written: "... artivism ... promotes the essential understanding that ... [humans] ... can, through courageous creative expression, experience the unifying power of love when courage harnesses itself to the task of art + social responsibility. By 2005, the term had made its way into academic writing when Slovenian theatre scholar Aldo Milohnic used the term to discuss "autonomous ('alter-globalist', social) movements in Slovenia that attracted wide attention. In carrying out their political activity they made use of protests and direct actions, thereby introducing the 'aesthetic', willingly or not". In 2008, Chela Sandoval and Guisela Latorre published a piece on Chicano/a artivism and M. K. Asante using the term in reference to Black artists. There is a chapter on artivism in the book It's Bigger Than Hip Hop by M. K. Asante. Asante writes of the artivist: The artivist (artist + activist) uses their artistic talents to fight and struggle against injustice and oppression—by any medium necessary. The artivist merges commitment to freedom and justice with the pen, the lens, the brush, the voice, the body, and the imagination. The artivist knows that to make an observation is to have an obligation. The impact of artivism vs. conventional activism was tested in a public scientific experiment in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2018. The results, reported in the journal of Social Movement Studies, suggest that artivism may be more effective than conventional activism. (en)

El artivismo se ha desarrollado en los años recientes al mismo tiempo que las protestas en contra de la globalización y los conflictos armados emergieron y proliferaron. En muchos de los casos los artivistas tratan de empujar agendas políticas a través del arte. De todas maneras este no es arte político como se ha visto anteriormente, en el sentido de trabajos artísticos con tendencia política. El artivista se encuentra involucrado muchas veces en arte callejero o arte urbano, manifestándose en contra de la publicidad (adbasting - subvertising) y la sociedad de consumo. El Artivismo se encuentra también en el área educativa como nueva forma de compromiso social mediante la innovación y creación artística, según el estudio entre dos universidades: la Universidad de Nottingham Trent y la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, con la colaboración de otras entidades culturales como la francesa Élan Interculturel (Francia) y Artemiszio (Hungría). El análisis, recoge algunas de las principales experiencias en artivismo mediante diversas técnicas y experiencias en talleres– para de esta manera reflexionar finalmente sobre la utilidad del artivismo como nuevo lenguaje social y como herramienta educativa, capaz de romper los roles tradicionales de la comunicación social. En algunos casos, como en París del 2003, artivistas fueron arrestados en responsabilidad por actos de arte político que culminaron con la destrucción de propiedades. Un típico objetivo a corto plazo para activistas es reclamar espacios públicos, especialmente subvirtiendo o destrozando publicidades en el ámbito urbano o sistemas de transportes de ciudad, también podemos encontrar artivistas comprometidos en diferentes medios de comunicación como Internet y no solo por acciones que podrían ser descritas como hacktivismo. Certains mouvements artivistes se sont développé depuis 1999 (peuple de Seattle) et visent à faire prendre conscience de problèmes politiques à travers la création artistique. Les acteurs de cette mouvance sont des interventionnistes se déclinant sous l'appellation d'artivistes se réclament parfois de divers mouvements, comme dada, le punk ou des mouvements situationnistes. Ils sont présents dans l'art contemporain. Par le biais d'un art de la provocation, les artivistes « réactivent l'humour, la parodie et l'imagination contre les armes de subversion ». Ainsi lors d'une manifestation le 1er mai 2000 un petit « commando » prend d'assaut la statue de Winston Churchill pour lui installer une crête d'herbe verte. En fait, cet acte marque le mécontentement de la jeunesse, de l'esprit de rébellion. On peut voir aussi des hordes de clowns transpercer les lignées de bobbies. L'artivismo si è sviluppato recentemente contemporaneamente alle proteste contro della globalizzazione e i conflitti armati emerse. In molti dei casi gli artivisti tentano di sollecitare le agende politiche attraverso l'arte. Ad ogni modo questa non è arte politica, ovvero lavori artistici con tendenze politiche. L'artivista si trova coinvolto molte volte in progetti di arte urbana, manifestando contro la pubblicità (adbasting - subvertising) e la società del consumo. L'Artivismo si trova anche nell'area educativa come nuova forma di impegno sociale mediante l'innovazione e la creazione artistica, secondo lo studio tra due università: l'Università di Nottingham Trent e l'Università Complutense di Madrid, con la collaborazione di altri enti culturali come la francese Élan Interculturel (Francia) e Artemiszio (Ungheria). L'analisi, raccoglie alcune delle principali esperienze in artivismo mediante diverse tecniche ed esperienze in progetti laboratoriali, al fine di riflettere sull'utilità dell'artivismo come nuovo linguaggio sociale e come strumento educativo, capace di rompere i ruoli tradizionali della comunicazione sociale.
