Alain Quême, also known as Alan Braxe, is a French electronic music artist. Braxe is most widely known for his collaborative work with electronic bassist Fred Falke and, in 2005, The Upper Cuts collected much of their material until that point along with several other Braxe productions.

  • Alan Braxe, né Alain Quême, est un musicien français de musique électronique. Il est orginaire de la petite commune de Brax, d'où il tire son nom de scène. C'est le cousin de Stéphane Quême (DJ Falcon) et de Delphine Quême (Quartet), tous deux musiciens également. Son premier morceau intitué Vertigo sort en 1996 sur le label de Thomas Bangalter Roulé. Ce dernier signera d'ailleurs un remix de ce titre. Deux ans plus tard, c'est lui qui produira la basse du titre de Stardust Music Sounds Better With You en collaboration avec Thomas Bangalter et Benjamin Diamond. Après quelques remixes (dont Alarm Call de Björk avec Benjamin Diamond), il fonde avec Fred Falke son propre label nommé Vulture. C'est sur ce dernier que sortiront toutes leurs collaborations, notamment les maxis Intro et Rubicon ainsi que l'album The Upper Cuts en 2005. En 2007, Alan Braxe et Kris Menace collaborent sur le titre Lumberjack. Il sort en outre un remix de D.A.N.C.E. de Justice sur le label Ed Banger Records. De tous les artistes électroniques français qui ont marqué les débuts de la French touch, Alan Braxe est sans aucun doute celui qui est resté le plus fidèle à la house filtrée. (fr)

Il suo singolo di debutto, "Vertigo", venne pubblicato dall'etichetta Roule Music 1997. Divenne un successo grazie ad una particolare versione (la "Virgo Edit") co-prodotta da Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk). È balzato agli onori delle cronache nel 1998 come componente degli Stardust, progetto del quale facevano parte anche Thomas Bangalter e Benjamin Diamond. Il trio realizzò "Music Sounds Better with You", universalmente riconosciuto come uno dei brani di musica house più belli di sempre e "numero uno" per diverse settimane nelle classifiche di molti Paesi. Braxe è anche conosciuto per la sua proficua collaborazione con il bassista electro Fred Falke; gran parte del loro lavoro è presente nella compliation "The Upper Cuts" del 2005: l'album contiene diversi brani realizzati dal duo, tra cui Palladium, Rubicon ed Intro (Running) ed il singolo realizzato con gli Stardust. Recentemente ha intrapreso la carriera di remixer "on demand", spesso co-producendo assieme a Falke; alcuni dei suoi lavori sono stati realizzati per Goldfrapp, Röyksopp, Test Icicles, Annie e Shakedown.
