- أحمد المعنوني هو كاتب ومخرج أفلام ومصور سينمائي وكاتب مسرحي ومنتج أفلام مغربي، ولد في عام 1944 بمدينة الدار البيضاء بالمغرب تحديدا بدوار الطوالعة بنواحي مدينة البيضاء.وهو عضو مؤسس لجمعية السينمائيين العرب بفرنسا، وممثل لأوربا في الغرفة المغربية لمنتجي الأفلام. صنفت أعماله كأنجح الأعمال السينيمائية المغربية والمغاربية، وأكثرها تقديرا واحتراما لدى الجمهور المغربي والمغاربي، تعتبر أعماله الأكثر تأثيرا وشهرة في تاريخ السينما المغربية، انطلق مع فن السينما من خلال مجهودات بسيطة، تمكن من الإبداع بالوسائل المتاحة في بداية مشواره الفني، قبل إنتاج تحفتي «الحال» و «آليام آليام» بين سنتي 1979 و1982. تعتبر أعماله فريدة من نوعها على مستوى الساحة السسينمائية المغربية، شكلت دفعة حقيقية أخرجت السينما المغربية من بوتقة المحلية إلى العالمية، بتوظيفه الجيد الذي ينم عن ذكاء فني للتراث الثقافي والشعبي والموسيقي والغنائي للمغرب. - Ahmed El Maanouni (born in 1944) is a Moroccan screenwriter, film director, cinematographer, actor and producer. His films include Alyam Alyam (1978), the first Moroccan film to be selected in Cannes Film Festival and winner of the Grand Prize at the Mannheim Film Festival. He caught international attention when his film Trances was honored and presented by Martin Scorsese at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival to inaugurate the World Cinema Foundation. His film Les Coeurs brûlés (2007) won the Grand Prize at the and was awarded many international prizes. His documentary films consistently interrogate colonial history and its impact on Moroccan memory. He directs study groups and educational programs in Morocco and throughout the world. In 2007, he was honored with the title of Officier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France. (en)

Sa filmographie compte l'un des titres les plus emblématiques du cinéma marocain Alyam, Alyam réalisé en 1978, premier film marocain sélectionné au Festival de Cannes. Son second film Transes 1982 devenu un film culte continuellement célébré, restauré par la World Cinema Foundation et présenté par Martin Scorsese au Festival de Cannes Cannes Classics en 2007, est le film marocain le plus largement distribué dans le monde. Son film Les Cœurs brûlés 2007, a remporté le Grand Prix du Festival national du film et a reçu de nombreux prix internationaux.
