- The 2011–12 season of the Belgian Second Division (also known as EXQI League for sponsorship reasons) started in August 2011 and is the second tier football league in Belgium. The league is played by 18 teams, with 34 matchdays of 9 matches each, so each team plays the 17 other teams twice. The season is divided into 3 periods, the first period of 10 matches, the second of 12 matches and the third of 12 matches. Each period winner qualifies for the Belgian Second Division Final Round. On 14 April 2012, Charleroi became champions without playing as closest rivals Eupen and Oostende both did not manage to win their matches and thereby could no longer mathematically overtake Charleroi in the standings. - Le Championnat de Belgique de football D2 2011-2012 constitue le 2e niveau professionnel du football belge. C'est la 95e édition du championnat de 2e niveau. La compétition se dispute en une seule série de 18 clubs qui se rencontrent en matches aller/retour (34 journées). Le champion est assuré de monter directement en Jupiler League(sous réserve de l'acception de sa demande de licence pour la cette division). Ce championnat est virtuellement partagé en 3 tranches (10 + 12 + 12 matches) donnant chacune lieu à un classement distinct. Les trois vainqueurs de tranche sont qualifiés pour un tour final en compagnie d'un barragiste de Division 1. Le vainqueur de ce tournoi final monte/reste en D1. Dans le cas où le champion remporte une ou plusieurs tranches (ou qu'un même club remporte plus d'une tranche), la qualification au tour final revient au 2e du classement général et ainsi de suite. Pour cette édition, le Sporting de Charleroi, relégué de Division 1 pour la première fois depuis 1985 attire tous les regards et est pointé comme le principal favori. Mais Eupen (aussi relégué de l'élite), Waasland-Beveren, R. Antwerp FC et même Heist sont cités comme de très sérieux "outsiders". Après un départ un peu chaloupé, les Zèbres assument leur statut et remportent le titre. Eupen, Waasland-Beveren et Ostende se qualifient pour le tour final, en compagnie du vainqueur des Play-Offs 3 de division 1 (Westerlo). Les promus de D3 se sont tous sauvés, le White Star Woluwé et Alost finissant même facilement dans le top 10. Lors de la dernière journée, Dender est relégué en D3, se faisant souffler sa place de barragiste par Tirlemont. Wetteren, 18e, n'a pas demandé sa licence pour rester en D2. (fr)
