- The 2006 European Tour was the 35th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began with five events in late 2005 and consisted of 47 official money events, equalling the record set the previous year. This included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 27 events took place in Europe, 12 in Asia, five in the United States, two in South Africa and one in Australia. Total prize money exceeded €117 million, including nearly €40 million in the major championships and WGC events. The Order of Merit race came down to the last few shots of the final tournament, and was won by Pádraig Harrington for the first time. He was the first Irishman to top the Order of Merit since the official beginning of the tour. The Player of the Year award was given to Order of Merit runner up Paul Casey of England and the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year was Marc Warren of Scotland. (en)
- La saison 2006 du Circuit Européen s'est tenu sur 52 semaines et avait débuté fin 2005. 35e saison depuis la création du Circuit Européen, la saison est constituée de 47 tournois officiels, incluant les quatre tournois constituant le Grand Chelem, les trois tournois du World Golf Championships. Le cicrcuit européen se produit principalement en Europe, mais aussi en Asie, en Afrique du Sud et en Australie. L'irlandais Pádraig Harrington remporte le classement de l'Ordre du Mérite européen, la décision s'effectuant lors du dernier tournoi. L'anglais Paul Casey, qui a terminé second au classement des gains, est nommé Player of the year (joueur de l'année), l'Écossais Marc Warren remportant pour sa part le titre de rookie of the year (meilleur débutant de l'année). - Dit is de agenda van de Europese PGA Tour uit 2006. De agenda van de Europese PGA Tour loopt tegenwoordig van november tot en met oktober. Het seizoen wordt al jaren afgerond met de Volvo Masters op de Valderrama baan van Sotogrande. Hieraan mogen alleen de 60 topspelers van de Order of Merit deelnemen. Het eerste toernooi binnen Europa wordt al sinds de jaren 90 op Madeira gespeeld, dan volgen enkele wedstrijden in Zuid-Europa. Pas in mei en juni komen landen als Engeland, Ierland, Duitsland en Frankrijk aan de beurt, en in de zomer gaan de spelers naar de meer noordelijke landen zoals Schotland, Nederland en Zweden. Op de agenda staan ook de vier Majors: het Britse Open, het Amerikaanse Open, de Masters en het US PGA Kampioenschap. (nl)
