- The 1934 British Empire Games were the second edition of what is now known as the Commonwealth Games, held in England, from 4–11 August 1934. The host city was London, with the main venue at Wembley Park, although the track cycling events were in Manchester. Seventeen national teams took part, including the Irish Free State (the only Games in which they participated, although an all-Ireland team competed at the 1930 Games). The 1934 Games had been originally awarded to Johannesburg, South Africa, but the change of venue to London was made due to concerns regarding the treatment of black and Asian athletes by South African officials and fans. Six sports were featured in the Games: athletics in White City Stadium; boxing, wrestling, and aquatics (swimming and diving) in the Empire Pool and Arena, Wembley; cycling in Fallowfield Stadium, Manchester; and lawn bowls at Paddington and Temple. Events for women athletes included a debut in athletics; the previous games had women's events only in swimming and diving. (en)

- Die British Empire Games 1934 waren die zweite Ausgabe jener Veranstaltung, die heute unter dem Namen Commonwealth Games bekannt ist. Sie fanden vom 4. bis 11. August 1934 in London statt, der Hauptstadt des Vereinigten Königreichs. Ausgetragen wurden 68 Wettbewerbe in den Sportarten Bowls, Boxen, Leichtathletik, Radfahren, Ringen, Rudern und Schwimmen (inkl. Wasserspringen). Es nahmen rund 500 Sportler aus 17 Ländern teil. Fast alle Veranstaltungen fanden im White City Stadium statt, die Radsportwettbewerbe hingegen im Fallowfield Stadium in Manchester. Eine Neuerung waren Leichtathletik-Wettbewerbe für Frauen. Die Organisatoren achteten darauf, nur Disziplinen aufzunehmen, die als „nicht zu erschöpfend“ galten. So waren die Laufwettbewerbe auf Sprints und eine 4 × 220-Yards-Staffel beschränkt. In die Spiele waren die Frauen-Weltspiele der Frauen-Sport-Föderation FSFI integriert. Mit diesem Spielen wurde die Idee von John Astley Cooper, Pan-Britannische Olympische Spiele durchzuführen, umgesetzt. Astley Cooper hatte schon 1891, ein Jahr vor Pierre de Coubertins Diskussion um die internationalen Olympischen Spiele, die Idee Olympischer Spiele nur für Angehörige des Empires (und der USA) in die Welt gesetzt. Die Amateurbestimmungen wurden einvernehmlich geregelt, da es noch keinen Staatsamateur im Empire gab. (de)
- Les jeux de l'Empire britannique de 1934 ont eu lieu à Londres en Angleterre du 4 au 11 août 1934 dans le White City Stadium. Les compétitions de cyclisme ont eu lieu dans le à Manchester. Cette édition vit l'apparition des femmes qui durent pourtant se contenter d'épreuves jugées pas trop fatigante. Les épreuves de courses en athlétisme étaient ainsi limitées aux sprint et un relais 4 × 220 yard a eu lieu en place du traditionnel relais 4 × 440 yard. À l'origine, ces jeux devaient se dérouler à Johannesbourg en Afrique du Sud mais afin d'éviter une crise internationale à cause des politiques de discrimination raciale, ils ont été déplacés à Londres. Terre-Neuve participait pour la dernière fois indépendante du Canada. Près de 500 athlètes de 17 nations ont participé à ces jeux. (fr)
- De tweede British Empire Games, een evenement dat tegenwoordig onder de naam Gemenebestspelen bekend is, werden gehouden van 4 tot en met 11 augustus 1934 in Londen, Engeland. Er namen zestien teams deel aan deze spelen, vijf meer dan op de eerste editie. Debuterende teams waren Brits-Indië, Hongkong, Jamaica, Trinidad en Tobago en Zuid-Rhodesië. Newfoundland nam voor het laatst onafhankelijk van Canada deel. Net als bij de eerste editie werden er zes sporten beoefend, hierbij maakte het roeien plaats voor het wielrennen. Bijna alle wedstrijden werden gehouden in het ‘White City stadion’, uitzondering was het wielrennen dat in het ‘Fallowfieldstadion’ in Manchester plaatsvond. (nl)

- II Igrzyska Imperium Brytyjskiego w 1934 roku według pierwotnych planów miały odbyć się w Johannesburgu, jednak ze względu na kryzys polityczny w ZPA impreza została przeniesiona i ostatecznie odbyła się w Londynie. W imprezie wzięło udział około 500 sportowców z 16 reprezentacji. Podczas konkurencji pływackich padło 11 rekordów IWB, które są najlepszymi wynikami do chwili obecnej, wszystkie ze względu na fakt, że zostały wyłączone z kalendarza dzisiejszych Igrzysk. Podczas Igrzysk Imperium Brytyjskiego w 1934 roku po raz pierwszy złożono przysięgę, która została odczytana przez kapitana angielskich lekkoatletów, R. L. Howlanda. (pl)
