- جرت الانتخابات الاسبانية العامة لسنة 1879 يوم الأحد 20 أبريل ويوم السبت 3 مايو 1879 لانتخاب أول برلمان عودة البوربون لمملكة اسبانيا. وجرت الانتخابات لجميع مقاعد مجلس النواب ال 392، بالإضافة إلى 180 مقعد من مقاعد مجلس الشيوخ ال 360. وهذه أول انتخابات جرت بعد اعتماد دستور 1876. وقانون الانتخابات الجديد لسنة 1878 حيث مهدت للتصويت حسب التعداد. - Les eleccions generals espanyoles de 1879 foren convocades el 20 d'abril de 1879 sota sufragi censatari, establit en la nova constitució de 1876, i que reduí el nombre d'electors a 840.000. En total foren escollits 392 diputats, endemés dels 15 de Puerto Rico i 24 de Cuba. Vencé per majoria el Partit Liberal Conservador, dirigit per Antonio Cánovas del Castillo. El Partit Constitucional de Sagasta va quedar segon, intentant aplegar les forces dels antics republicans que havien acceptat la monarquia. Posteriorment aplegaria altres faccions de caràcter liberal i crearia el Partit Liberal Fusionista. Els republicans van obtenir resultats poc significatius. Fou elegit president del Congrés el conservador Adelardo López de Ayala, substituït el gener de 1880 per Francisco de Borja Queipo de Llano, Comte de Toreno, i com a president del Senat Manuel García Barzanallana. El cap de govern fou Antonio Cánovas del Castillo. Per tal d'evitar lluites polítiques que desgastin la monarquia, pacta amb Sagasta establir un torn de govern entre els dos partits de manera pacífica i el 1881 es convoquen noves eleccions (ca)
- The 1879 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 20 April and on Saturday, 3 May 1879, to elect the 1st Restoration Cortes of the Kingdom of Spain. All 392 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 180 of 360 seats in the Senate. This was the first election held under the Spanish Constitution of 1876 and the new electoral law of 1878, which re-established censitary suffrage. (en)
