Islamic teachings on humanity and human welfare have been codified in its central religious book known as the Quran, which the Muslims believe was revealed by God for the mankind. These teachings have often been exemplified by Islamic prophet Muhammad as displayed in his sayings and practices. To the Muslims, Islam is what the Quran has instructed to do and how Muhammad has put them into practice. Thus, the understanding of any Islamic topic generally rely on these two. 自伊斯蘭教誕生之初，先知穆罕默德就稱伊斯蘭教不管任何時候都是人道的宗教。作為真主向人類揭示的真言，《古蘭經》是人類處世之道的指南，為所有人制定了他們的基本權利，包括穆斯林、非穆斯林和男女老幼。敬真主愛人類是伊斯蘭教的基本宗旨和核心價值觀，信仰真主的穆斯林要棄惡從善、勸善戒惡。除了規範人類與真主的關係，伊斯蘭教亦規範人倫關係。 ان الإنسانية في الإسلام هو ركن عقدي وواقع تطبيقي. شرّع الإسلام حقوق وواجبات بين المجتمع الإسلامي بتكويناته المتعددة لكل فرد، سواءً كان ذكرٍ أو أنثى. وقد حرص على رعاية حقوق الإنسان جميعاً. كما حث الإسلام على الأخلاقيات الحسنة، حتى إن الغاية من رسالة الإسلام هي إتمام وإصلاح مكارم الأخلاق في نفوس الناس أجمعين، وقد قال الرسول:«إنما بعثت لأتمم مكارم الأخلاق». فالتسامح، وحُب السلام، والكرم، والرفق بالتعامل مع غير المسلمين كُلها صفات تدل على الإنسانية.
