- Türkische Militäroffensive im Gouvernement Idlib Teil von: Bürgerkrieg in Syrien Die Zone um Idlib im Nordwesten Syriens (hervorgehoben) ist eine der vier deklarierten Deeskalationszonen der Astanagespräche Die türkische Militäroffensive im Gouvernement Idlib begann am 12. Oktober 2017, als Ziel wurde ausgegeben, eine Deeskalationszone zu schaffen. Die Türkei gibt an, damit verhindern zu wollen, dass noch mehr Kriegsflüchtlinge in die Türkei fliehen. Ein türkischer Konvoi aus Truppentransportern, LKWs und Leopard-2-Panzern rückte in Idlib ein sowie in einen Vorort westlich von Aleppo. Offiziell sollen hier Beobachtungsposten eingerichtet werden. Beobachter gehen davon aus, dass faktisch Armeestützpunkte errichtet werden. Die türkische Armee wird bei dem Einsatz von Rebellen der Freien Syrischen Armee, der HTS und den Ahrar al-Scham unterstützt. Die Militäroffensive ist Teil der türkischen Besetzung Nordsyriens seit 2016, die von Beobachtern als völkerrechtswidriger Angriffskrieg gewertet werden. Ein im September 2020 veröffentlichter Bericht des Hohen Kommissars der Vereinten Nationen für Menschenrechte wirft den türkischen Streitkräften sowie seinen Rebellen-Unterstützern vor, in Syrien Freiheitsberaubungen begangen zu haben und sieht Hinweise weiterer Verbrechen an syrischen Zivilisten; Folter (darunter Vergewaltigung), Plünderung sowie die Zerstörung von Weltkulturerbe. - La Operación proteger Idlib fue una campaña militar de ocupación iniciada el 12 de octubre de 2017 y finalizada el 20 de enero de 2018 al noroeste de Siria, específicamente en la Gobernación de Idlib, impulsado por la República de Turquía con el propósito de expulsar a los separatistas kurdos del norte de Siria y eliminar directamente la sociedad sin Estado de la Federación Democrática del Norte de Siria, todo esto forma en conjunto una fase superior del frente kurdo, los constantes conflictos entre rebeldes, la progresiva ruptura de la oposición unida y un incremento de la intervención militar turca en la Guerra Civil Siria. El objetivo principal de la operación era eliminar de la frontera a las Fuerzas Democráticas Sirias de toda la frontera entre Siria y Turquía, en la sección de la gobernación de Idlib y darle pase libre a los rebeldes sirios que compiten directamente con la Coalición RSII y diversas guerrillas kurdas. La operación resultó exitosa para la alianza entre Turquía y los rebeldes sirios, logrando tener un mejor acceso a otras zonas estratégicas de Siria. (es)
