- RTL 8 ist ein niederländischer Privatsender und gehört neben RTL 4, RTL 5 und RTL 7 zu der RTL Nederland Groep. Den Sendebetrieb nahm RTL 8 am 18. August 2007 als Nachfolger von John de Mols glücklosem Sender Tien auf, der seit August 2005 (zunächst als Talpa) gesendet hatte. - RTL 8 is a Dutch free-to-cable television channel that was launched on 18 August 2007 replacing Tien, previously known as Talpa. RTL 8's main target audience consists of women. It broadcasts soap operas, talk shows, films and reruns of programmes from its sister RTL channels. In the mornings and late afternoons children's channel RTL Telekids is broadcasting on RTL 8. Officially RTL 8, along with all other Dutch RTL channels, is broadcasting under a Luxembourg television license. Therefore, the channel is also headquartered in Luxembourg. By doing this RTL can avoid more severe control by the Dutch media authorities, as Luxembourg does not have a strict authority that regulates its broadcasters. Dutch citizens need a subscription to a cable, satellite, IPTV, or DVB-T provider to view the channel. All providers include the channel in their base package. (en)

- RTL 8 (Radio Télévision Luxembourg 8) is een commerciële Nederlandstalige Luxemburgse televisiezender die sinds 18 augustus 2007 in Nederland te zien is. De benamingen RTL+ en RTL 10 deden de ronde als mogelijke naam, maar uiteindelijk is gekozen voor RTL 8. De zender heeft een vrouwelijk profiel maar laat ook ruimte voor experimentele televisie. Alhoewel de zender formeel een nieuwe zender is, is RTL Nederland erin geslaagd om in korte tijd landelijke kabeldistributie te realiseren. Op de kabel is RTL 8 gaan uitzenden op de plek waar voorheen Tien (daarvoor Talpa TV) uitzond. Op satelliet is Tien vanuit Luxemburg van start gegaan op de plek waar voorheen Hallmark Channel vanuit Luxemburg werd opgestraald (deze is naar een andere frequentie verhuisd). RTL Nederland heeft formeel de zender Tien niet overgenomen, maar onderdelen van waaronder een aantal programma's inclusief één seizoen Eredivisie voetbalrechten alsmede Radio 538. De overname van de Talpa-onderdelen werd officieel op 26 juni 2007 bekendgemaakt door RTL Group en Talpa Media. (nl)
