The Quadruple Alliance was a treaty signed in Paris on November 20th, 1815, by the great powers of Austria, Prussia, Russia, and Great Britain. It renewed the use of the Congress System which advanced European international relations at the time. The alliance was first formed in 1813 to counter the military threat of France. The four powers promised aid to each other, which lasted until 1818. In 1818, France joined the Quadruple Alliance, turning it into the Quintuple Alliance.
