- Die INS Talwar ist eine Fregatte der Indischen Marine und das erste Schiff und Namensgeber der Talwar-Klasse. Am 19. November 2008 zerstörte die indische Fregatte INS Tabar (Kriwak-IV) vor der Küste Somalias ein „Piraten-Mutterschiff“, nachdem dessen Besatzung eine Überprüfung verweigert und das Feuer auf das Kriegsschiff eröffnet hatte. Das vermeintliche Piraten-Mutterschiff erwies sich später als von den Piraten gekaperter thailändischer Fischkutter. Am 28. Mai 2009 verhinderte sie einen Enterversuch von Piraten auf den Frachter „Maud“, bei dem zwei Piraten von der Besatzung des Bordhubschraubers beschossen wurden, als sie versuchten, die Bordwand des Frachters zu erklimmen. - INS Talwar (F40) (translated as "Sword") is the lead ship of the Talwar-class frigates of the Indian Navy. Its name means "Sword" in Hindi (see Talwar). She was built in Russia, and commissioned into the Indian Navy on 18 June 2003. Talwar is a multirole frigate and true to her name, has participated in various operations and exercises since her commissioning, including anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia. (en)
