- Das Waldau-Stadion (aufgrund eines Namenssponsorings seit 2004 offiziell Gazi-Stadion auf der Waldau), ehemals Kickers-Platz oder Kickers-Stadion, ist ein Fußballstadion im Stadtteil Degerloch der baden-württembergischen Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart. Die Anlage liegt etwa 200 Meter neben dem Fernsehturm und fasst 11.408 Zuschauer (davon 2.211 überdachte Sitzplätze und 4.845 überdachte Stehplätze). Mit seiner Lage knapp 500 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel ist das Stadion eines der höchstgelegenen Deutschlands. Es ist die Heimstätte des Fußball-Oberligisten Stuttgarter Kickers und der American-Football-Mannschaften der Stuttgart Scorpions in der German Football League (GFL) und Stuttgart Surge in der European League of Football (ELF). Das Waldau-Stadion ist das älteste Stadion in Deutschland, in dem noch Fußball gespielt wird. Seit 1905, dem Jahr der Einweihung, trägt die Fußballabteilung der Stuttgarter Kickers im Stadion ihre Heimspiele aus. Kein anderer deutscher Fußballverein trägt seine Heimspiele so lange am selben Ort aus. Allerdings spielten die Kickers während ihrer Zeit in der 1. Bundesliga (1988/89 und 1991/92) aus Sicherheitsgründen im Neckarstadion und 2014 während des Umbaus im Stadion an der Kreuzeiche, so dass kein kontinuierlicher Punktspielbetrieb der Kickers im Waldau-Stadion stattfand. In het stadion spelen de voetbalclub de Stuttgarter Kickers en de American footballclub hun thuiswedstrijden, en sinds 2008 ook het tweede elftal van VfB Stuttgart. Het stadion beschikt over 11.544 plaatsen, waarvan 1.380 overdekte zitplaatsen en 5.094 overdekte staanplaatsen. Al sinds de bouw in 1905, als Kickers Stadion, is dit het thuisstadion van de Stuttgarter Kickers. Geen andere Duitse voetbalvereniging speelt zijn thuiswedstrijden al zo lang in hetzelfde stadion. Toch is er voor het eerste elftal geen doorlopende reeks, want toen de club in 1988/89 en 1991/92 in de 1. Bundesliga speelde, week men om veiligheidsredenen uit naar de Mercedes-Benz Arena van stadgenoot VfB Stuttgart. In 1976 werd de nog bestaande houten hoofdtribune vervangen door een nieuwe met moderne plastic stadionstoelen. In 1987 werd het stadion Waldau-Stadion genoemd, en in 2005 werden de naamrechten van het stadion aan hoofdsponsor Garmi AG verkocht. Deze is eigenaar van de merknaam GAZİ en gaf het stadion de huidige naam. (nl)
