- Sezóna 1918/1919 byla 2. sezonou NHL. Vítězem NHL se stal tým Montreal Canadiens, který se následně ve finále Stanley Cupu utkal s vítězem PCHA - Seattle Metropolitans, ale série nebyla dohrána z důvodu vypuknutí epidemie Španělské chřipky. (cs)
- The 1918–19 NHL season was the second season of the National Hockey League (NHL). While at first it was uncertain that the NHL would operate, and the possibility that National Hockey Association (NHA) would be resumed, the unfinished business of Eddie Livingstone's Toronto and Ottawa's NHA franchise, led to the NHL owners suspending the NHA again. Livingstone would attempt to overthrow the NHA management, and failing that, attempt to operate a rival league. The pre-season was filled with legal actions, deceptions and public verbal attacks. Ultimately, the NHL operated with three teams, in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. However, the season ended early with Toronto suspending operations, leaving Montreal and Ottawa to play off for the championship. Montreal would win the playoff and travel to Seattle for the Stanley Cup Finals. However, the championship series was not completed due to influenza infecting the whole Montreal team and causing the eventual death of Montreal's Joe Hall. (en)

In der Vorrunde absolvierte jedes Team 20 Spiele. Die Saison war ursprünglich in zwei Hälften mit jeweils zehn Spielen geplant. Doch durch den Rückzug der Toronto Arenas aufgrund finanzieller Probleme wurden in der zweiten Hälfte nur acht Spiele ausgetragen. Montreals Topscorer der Vorsaison Joe Malone brachte es in dieser Saison nur auf zehn Spiele. Er hatte in Quebec einen Beruf angetreten. Da nur noch zwei Mannschaften in der Liga übrig blieben wurde erstmals eine Best-of-seven-Serie ausgetragen, deren Gewinner auf den Meister der Pacific Coast Hockey Association traf um den Stanley-Cup-Sieger zu ermitteln. Dort trafen die Montréal Canadiens auf die Seattle Metropolitans. Nachdem beide Teams je zweimal gewonnen hatten und ein Spiel unentschieden endete, erkrankten fünf Spieler und der Manager der Canadiens an der spanischen Grippe, einer Epidemie, die um die ganze Welt ging. Am 1. April wurde die Saison abgesagt, fünf Tage später starb Montreals Verteidiger „Bad“ Joe Hall im Seattle Columbus Sanatorium. (de)

Zespoły, które wygrały w pierwszej i drugiej części awansowały do mistrzostw NHL. Zwycięzca mistrzostwa NHL walczył o Puchar Stanleya.
