| - The Battle of Dahlen was fought on April 23, 1568, between a Dutch rebel army led by Jean de Montigny, Lord of Villers, and a Spanish army commanded by Sancho Dávila y Daza. As a part of William of Orange's planned invasion, the Dutch rebels were trying to conquer the town of Roermond when the arrival of the Spanish force compelled them to withdraw. Dávila pursued the retreating force and inflicted a defeat upon Villers near the small town of Dahlen (today known as Rheindahlen). The survivors of this encounter sought refuge under the walls of Dahlen, where the Spanish infantry finally defeated them. This battle is sometimes considered the official start of the Eighty Years' War. (en)

- La battaglia di Dahlen (detta anche battaglia di Rheindalen) fu uno scontro che ebbe luogo il 25 aprile 1568 a , all'epoca parte del Principato vescovile di Liegi, tra le forze dei ribelli calvinisti e quelle della Spagna. Come parte dell'invasione pianificata a suo tempo da Guglielmo I d'Orange, i ribelli olandesi tentarono di conquistare la città di Roermond quando l'arrivo delle forze li costrinse a ritirarsi. Jako część planowanej przez Wilhelma I Orańskiego inwazji, niderlandzcy rebelianci próbowali podbić miasto Roermond, kiedy przybycie sił hiszpańskich zmusiło ich do odwrotu. D'Avila wyruszył w pogoń za uciekającym wojskiem, by zadać mu ostateczny cios nieopodal miejscowości Dahlen (dzisiejsze Rheindahlen). Zbiegowie z pola bitwy szukali schronienia za murami miasta, gdzie dopadła ich hiszpańska piechota. Bitwa pod Dahlen jest przez niektóre źródła uważana za początek Wojny Osiemdziesięcioletniej. (pl)
- Битва у Дальхайма или Битва у Далена — сражение между голландской повстанческой армией во главе с Йостом де Суте и испанской армией под командованием Санчо де Авила, состоявшаяся 25 апреля 1568 года. В рамках запланированного вторжения Вильгельма Оранского голландские повстанцы попытались завоевать город Рурмонд, однако подошедшие испанские войска заставили их отступить. - De Slag bij Dalheim of Dalen (Hoogduits: Dahlen, sinds 1878 Rheindahlen, Mönchengladbach) vond plaats op 25 april 1568. De veldslag was onderdeel van Oranjes eerste invasie en het eerste gevecht in de Tachtigjarige Oorlog waarbij Willem van Oranje betrokken was; in de Slag bij Oosterweel 13 maanden eerder koos hij nog tegen opstandigheid. Vier weken later werd hij met drie anderen onthoofd op de Grote Markt van Brussel, na de Spaanse nederlaag bij Heiligerlee. (nl)
