- Juri Michailowitsch Aronowitsch (russisch Юрий Михайлович Аронович; hebräisch יורי אהרונוביץ'; * 13. Mai 1932 in Leningrad; † 31. Oktober 2002 in Köln) war ein israelischer Dirigent russischer Herkunft. Von 1950 bis 1954 studierte Aronowitsch zunächst am Konservatorium seiner Heimatstadt Musik und danach Orchesterleitung bei Natan Rachlin und Kurt Sanderling. 1964 wurde er Chefdirigent des Sinfonieorchesters des Moskauer Rundfunks. 1972 wanderte er nach Israel aus. Konzerte als Gastdirigent mit dem Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, dem London Symphony Orchestra, den Wiener Symphonikern u. a. folgten. Von 1975 bis 1986 war er Chefdirigent des Gürzenich-Orchesters Köln, 1982 bis 1987 außerdem der Stockholmer Philharmonie. Auch als Operndirigent war Aronowitsch gerngesehener Gast an vielen bedeutenden Bühnen. (de)
- Iouri Mikhaïlovitch Aronovitch (en russe : Юрий Михайлович Аронович; ISO 9 : Ûrij Mihajlovič Aronovič), né le 13 mai 1932 à Léningrad (Union soviétique) et mort le 31 octobre 2002 à Cologne (Allemagne), est un chef d'orchestre israélien d'origine russe. Aronovitch étudie la musique et le violon dès l'âge de quatre ans. Au conservatoire de Léningrad, il est l'élève de Natan Rakhline et Kurt Sanderling. En 1954, après l'obtention de son diplôme de direction, il est l'invité des plus grands orchestres soviétiques dont l'Orchestre philharmonique de Léningrad et l'Orchestre du Théâtre Bolchoï. En 1964, il est nommé chef principal de l'Orchestre symphonique du ministère de la Culture de l'URSS, poste qu'il occupe jusqu'à son départ pour Israël en 1972. Sa carrière prend alors un essor international. Il dirige ou part en tournée avec les meilleurs orchestres européens, l'Orchestre symphonique de Londres, l'Orchestre symphonique de Vienne, l'Orchestre de la Scala de Milan entre autres, mais aussi l'Orchestre philharmonique d'Israël ou l'Orchestre symphonique Yomiuri du Japon (Tōkyō). De 1975 à 1986, il est chef principal de l'Orchestre du Gürzenich de Cologne et, de 1982 à 1987, occupe le même poste à la tête de l'Orchestre philharmonique royal de Stockholm. Dans le même temps, Aronovitch ne néglige pas le répertoire lyrique. Il se produit sur les meilleures scènes d'opéra, à Londres (Royal Opera House), Chicago (Lyric Opera of Chicago), Stockholm (Opéra royal de Stockholm), en Allemagne (Opéra d'État de Bavière à Munich, Opéra de Cologne) et en Italie. En 1984, Aronovitch entre à l'Académie royale de musique de Suède et, en 1987, il reçoit du roi de Suède l'insigne de commandeur de l'Ordre royal de l’Étoile polaire. - Yuri Mikhaylovich Ahronovitch (Юрий Михайлович Аронович) (13 May 1932 – 31 October 2002) was a Soviet-born Israeli conductor. Born in Leningrad, he studied music and the violin from the age of 4. In 1954 he graduated as conductor from the Leningrad Conservatory. He studied with Nathan Rachlin and Kurt Sanderling. Invitations to conduct leading Russian orchestras followed, including the Leningrad Philharmonic and the Bolshoi Theatre. After conducting in Petrozavodsk and Saratov, he was assigned to the 1956-1964, performing symphonic cycles by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky alongside Soviet music such as the works of Aram Khachaturian and Tikhon Khrennikov. In 1964 he was appointed Chief Conductor of the USSR Ministry of Culture Symphony Orchestra and worked there until emigrating to Israel in 1972. His recordings for Melodiya, notably Shostakovich's First Symphony, were well received in the West. Immediate invitations followed to conduct and tour with major orchestras: the London Symphony Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Teatro Alla Scala and others. From 1975 to 1986 he was Chief Conductor of the Cologne Philharmonic Orchestra (Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne) and from 1982 to 1987 Chief Conductor of the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Simultaneously Yuri Ahronovitch was also an opera conductor. He conducted at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden, the Lyric Opera in Chicago, important Italian opera houses and Symphony Orchestra (Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana), the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Cologne Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. He made a number of premiere recordings, mainly with the London Symphony, the Stockholm Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Yuri Ahronovitch was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music from 1984, and in 1987 he was decorated by the King of Sweden as "Commander of the Royal Order of the Polar Star". In 1988 in Jerusalem he was awarded the "Ettinger Prize for the Arts". In Italy Yuri Ahronovitch was awarded the prize "Arca d'Oro 1991" by the leading Italian newspaper La Stampa and the University of Turin. Yuri Ahronovitch conducted at numerous international music festivals, such as Bergen, Bregenz, Canary Islands, Florida, Israel, Locarno, Luzern, Munich, Savonnlina, Spoleto, Stresa, and Verona. He conducted his last concert with the Orchestre de Paris in October 2002. (en)
