- Ytterøya è un'isola della Norvegia che fa parte della municipalità di Levanger nella contea di Trøndelag. L'isola è situata nella parte interna del Trondheimsfjord tra le località di Mosvik e Levanger. Fino al 1964 l'isola costituiva, insieme a parte della terraferma nei dintorni, una municipalità a sé stante (Ytterøy) che venne istituita il 1º gennaio 1838. L'isola ha una popolazione di circa 600 persone (2017) che aumenta significativamente nei mesi estivi a causa di un elevato numero di seconde case. Essa è lunga 15 km e ha un'area totale di 27,8 km quadrati. Il punto più elevato è il monte Bølåskammen (210 m s.l.m.).. Quest'isola è famosa per la sua estesa popolazione di cervi. Sull'isola si trovano numerosi sepolcri risalenti all'età della pietra. Nel 1630 iniziò l'attività di estrazione del rame, intorno alla metà del XIX secolo vi si aggiunse l'estrazione di pirite usata per la produzione di acido solforico negli stabilimenti di Trondheim. Intorno al 1870 la miniera impiegava circa 500-600 persone, l'attività venne interrotta dopo la prima guerra mondiale. Un traghetto collega regolarmente l'isola a Levanger. (it)
- Ytterøy is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. Originally, it was a large municipality that encompassed the island of Ytterøya and parts of the mainland to the northwest of the island on the west side of the Trondheimsfjord. By 1964 when it was dissolved, Ytterøy only included the 28 square kilometres (11 sq mi) island of Ytterøya. Since 1964, the island has been part of what is now the municipality of Levanger in Trøndelag county. The island is connected to the rest of Levanger by a ferry that crosses the Trondheimsfjord. The main church for the municipality was Ytterøy Church. (en)

Dawna gmina Ytterøy obejmowała obszar wyspy oraz część stałego lądu. Została utworzona w 1 stycznia 1838. W 1867 roku część lądowa została oddzielona od gminy Ytterøy i włączona do nowej gminy . Po podziale gmina posiadała 1 499 mieszkańców wyspy. 1 stycznia 1964 Ytterøy została włączona do gminy Levanger wraz z jej 772 ówczesnymi mieszkańcami. Staronordyjskie formy nazwy wyspy brzmiały Ýtriøy and Øyin ýtri i oznaczały "wyspę na zewnątrz" (w odróżnieniu od Inderøy). (pl)
