- Xavier Guerrero (3 de diciembre de 1896, San Pedro de las Colonias, Coahuila – 29 de junio de 1974, Ciudad de México) fue uno de los pioneros del Muralismo mexicano de inicios del siglo XX. Aprendió pintura trabajando con su padre, quien trabajaba en albañilería y decoración, y demostró evidente habilidad a partir de un aprendizaje, prácticamente, autodidacta. Se mudó a Guadalajara en 1912 y comenzó a pintar murales; después, en 1919, se mudó a la Ciudad de México, justo cuando comenzó el movimiento del Muralismo. La mayoría de su trabajo fue como ayudante y en colaboración de pintores como Diego Rivera y David Alfaro Siqueiros. Trabajó en el Colegio de San Ildefonso, el edificio de la Secretaria de Educación Pública y la Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo; sin embargo, muchas de sus otras obras se han dado por perdidas. Ha sido más conocido por su trabajo como muralista, aunque sus trabajos en caballete se han considerado de más calidad. (es)

He learned painting working with his father, who worked in masonry and decorating, with evidence that his ability was mostly self-taught. In 1912, he moved to Guadalajara and began painting murals, moving to Mexico City in 1919 just as the muralism movement was about to begin. Most of his work was in collaboration with or subordinate to other painters such as Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, working at the San Ildefonso College, the Secretaría de Educación Pública building and the Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo; however, much of his other work has been lost. While best known for his mural work, his later canvas work is considered to be better. (en)
