The acclaimed Australian writer Louis Nowra delivered the opening address. At World Interplay 2003 and 2005, playwrights came from nations such as Bulgaria, Cambodia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, England, Finland, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Switzerland, the U.S., Venezuela, and Vietnam, as well as Australia. World Interplay is supported by the Australia Council, Arts Queensland, Townsville City Council, James Cook University, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australia).
