- أُقيمَ مؤتمر المرأة العالمي 1985 أو المؤتمر العالمي الثالث للمرأة خلال الفترة من 15 إلي 26 يوليو 1985 في العاصمة الكينية نيروبي. كتقيم لتطور أو فشل «نهاية العِقد» كوسيلة لتحقيق الأهداف المحددة من قِبَل خطة العمل العالمية من افتتاح مؤتمر المرأة كما هو مذكور في برنامج العمل العالمي للمؤتمر الثاني. كانت الأهمية خلال المؤتمر للنتائج النهائية لإستيراتيچيات النظرة التطلعية المستقبلية للنهوض بالمرأة والتي يتم تبنيها بالإجماع علي عكس المؤتمرين السابقين. وقد شهد المؤتمر تقديم حقوق المثليين لأول مرة في اجتماع رسمي للأمم المتحدة ونقطه التحول في العنف ضد المرأة ليتحول من موضوع مُختفٍ إلي آخرٍ كان لابد من ذكره.اعتبارا أن أهداف «عِقد المرأة» لم تتحقق بعد، اقترح المؤتمر ووثّقت الجمعية العامة تقييمًا جاريًا لإنجازات وإخفاقات النساء خلال عام 2000. - La Conferencia Mundial sobre la Mujer de 1985 o la Tercera Conferencia Mundial sobre la Mujer se llevó a cabo entre el 15 y el 26 de julio de 1985 en Nairobi, Kenia, para analizar y evaluar progresos y fracasos en la implementación de los objetivos establecidos por el Conferencia Mundial sobre las Mujeres de 1975 modificada por el Programa de Acción Mundial de la segunda conferencia. Fue significativo durante la conferencia el resultado final de las Estrategias prospectivas para el adelanto de la mujer que se adoptaron por consenso, a diferencia de las dos conferencias anteriores. La conferencia marcó la primera vez que se introdujeron los derechos de las lesbianas en una reunión oficial de la ONU y el punto de inflexión para hacer visible la violencia contra las mujeres considerado hasta el momento un tema oculto que no debía abordarse. Reconociendo que no se habían alcanzado los objetivos del Decenio para la Mujer, la conferencia recomendó y la Asamblea General aprobó una evaluación continua de los logros y fracasos de las mujeres hasta el año 2000. - The World Conference on Women, 1985 or the Third World Conference on Women took place between 15 and 26 July 1985 in Nairobi, Kenya, as the end-decade assessment of progress and failure in implementing the goals established by the World Plan of Action from the 1975 inaugural conference on women as modified by the of the second conference. Of significance during the conference was the end result of the being adopted by consensus, unlike the previous two conferences. The conference marked the first time that lesbian rights were introduced in a UN official meeting and the turning-point for violence against women to emerge from being a hidden topic into one which needed to be addressed. Recognizing that the goals of the Decade for Women had not been met, the conference recommended and the General Assembly approved on-going evaluation of women's achievements and failures through the year 2000.
