Wydał kilka albumów z taneczną muzyką Techno głównego nurtu jako Mike Ink, M:I:5, Love Inc., Tal i All. Jedynie nagrywając jako Gas wyszedł poza popularną konwencję wydając kilka albumów będących jednymi z najciekawszych dokonań muzyki ambient i stawiających Voigta w czołówce twórców gatunku. W swej muzyce, prawdopodobnie najbardziej ponurej i ciemnej w swym gatunku, wciąga bez reszty słuchacza w świat trzasków, basowych pasaży, niskich perkusyjnych dźwięków i hipnotycznych, uporczywie powtarzanych, minimalistycznych linii melodycznych. Mroczną atmosferę tej muzyki rozjaśniają sporadycznie pojawiające się konkretne dźwięki natury, na przykład szum płynącego potoku. Wolfgang Voigt jest również współzałożycielem wytwórni Kompakt. (pl)
