Das Spiel von den italienischen Autoren , und erschien 2004 mit Illustrationen von John Howe bei und in einer deutschen Übersetzung 2005 bei Phalanx Games. Die englische Ausgabe erschien bei Fantasy Flight Games und die französische bei Tilsit. 2005 erhielt es den International Gamers Award als bestes Zwei-Personen-Spiel. - La Guerre de l'Anneau est un jeu de société dans lequel les armées des joueurs s'affrontent dans un cadre reconstituant l'univers du livre Le Seigneur des anneaux de J. R. R. Tolkien. Conçu par les auteurs italiens , Marco Maggi et Roberto Di Meglio, le jeu a été édité en France par Tilsit Éditions en 2004 puis par Asmodée depuis 2005. Il n'est plus distribué en France depuis fin mars 2011. Le jeu a fait l'objet d'une extension conçue par les mêmes auteurs, parue en 2006, intitulée Les Batailles du Tiers Âge. Elle ajoute du matériel et des points de règles supplémentaires ainsi que des scénarios tactiques. (fr)

Since its first print-run it has been produced in many languages: Fantasy Flight Games published the English edition in 2004. An expansion called Battles of the Third Age was released in 2006 and a Collector's Edition in 2010 (with both the base game and expansion materials, hand-painted miniatures, a leather-bound rulebook, and corrected and clarified rules and cards). The Fantasy Flight edition of both the base game and expansion are currently out of print. A new 2nd Edition, published by , was published in 2011, as well as one expansion entitled Lords of Middle Earth and one called Warriors of Middle Earth. (en)
- Wojna o Pierścień (ang. War of the Ring) – gra planszowa fantasy oparta na motywach powieści J.R.R. Tolkiena, będąca symulacją wojny o Pierścień. Gra autorstwa Richarda Berga, Howarda Barascha została wydana w roku 1977 przez , polskim wydawcą było wydawnictwo Encore. W 1991 nagrodzona tytułem Gra Roku. W grze gracze wcielali się w bohaterów sterujących swoimi wojskami. Gra przeznaczona jest dla 2 graczy, z których jeden przyjmuje stronę Przymierza (Drużyna Pierścienia), drugi z kolei Siły Cienia potężnego czarnoksiężnika Saurona i jego armii. W czasie gdy bohaterowie starają się przejąć kontrolę nad Pierścieniem i donieść go do swojej siedziby, w świecie Śródziemia równolegle toczona jest batalia pomiędzy siłami Ludzi, Elfów i Krasnoludów oraz Saurona, Sarumana, Gothmoga, Króla Nazguli i jego jeźdźców. Powstały dwa wydania tej gry. Jedno z okładką autostwa Tima Kirka drugie poprawione ze scenami filmowymi oraz z podziałem na trzech graczy Sauron i Saruman. W roku 2004 wydawca Fantasy Flight Games wydał grę planszową o tym samym tytule. Pomimo zapewnień iż Nexus Editrice - włoski wytwórca jest autorem, nie dało się ukryć podobieństwa między grami: różnią je nieznaczne zmiany zasad, poprawy błędów, dodanie figurek oraz nowa szata graficzna autorstwa Francesca Nepitellego, Marco Maggi, Roberta Di Meglio. Do gry powstał dodatek pt. Battles of the Third Age. (pl)
