- La Resolució 1235 del Consell de Seguretat de l'ONU de les Nacions Unides, adoptada per unanimitat el 30 d'abril de 1999 després de reafirmar totes les resolucions anteriors del Sàhara Occidental, el consell va ampliar el mandat de la Missió de Nacions Unides pel Referèndum al Sàhara Occidental (MINURSO) dues setmanes més fins al 14 de maig de 1999. El Consell va prendre nota d'un informe del secretari general Kofi Annan i de les seves recomanacions. A l'informe, va afirmar que la implementació oportuna del calendari revisat es va trobar entre molts temes: el desplegament complet de les tropes de la MINURSO abans de juliol de 1999; la cooperació d'ambdues parts en el procés d'identificació dels votants; la finalització dels acords de repatriació a final de 1999; El desplegament d'unitats militars, observadors policials i militars fins al gener de 2000; la reducció i confinament de tropes d'ambdós costats; la proclamació d'una amnistia general. Per tant, el secretari general va recomanar que el mandat de la MINURSO es prorrogués fins al 30 d'octubre de 1999. Es va instruir al Secretari General que informés al Consell sobre l'evolució del , en particular pel que fa a les discussions entre el Govern del Marroc i el Front Polisario i la viabilitat del mandat de la MINURSO. - قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 1235، المتخذ بالإجماع في 30 نيسان / أبريل 1999، بعد إعادة تأكيد جميع القرارات السابقة المتعلقة بمسألة الصحراء الغربية، مدد المجلس ولاية بعثة الأمم المتحدة للاستفتاء في الصحراء الغربية لمدة أسبوعين آخرين حتى 14 مايو 1999. واطلع المجلس على تقرير الأمين العام كوفي عنان وتوصياته. وذكر في التقرير أن التنفيذ في الوقت المناسب للجدول الزمني المنقح يستند إلى عدة مسائل: النشر الكامل لقوات البعثة بحلول تموز / يوليو 1999؛ تعاون كلا الطرفين في عملية تحديد هوية الناخبين؛ الانتهاء من ترتيبات العودة إلى الوطن بحلول نهاية عام 1999؛ نشر الوحدات العسكرية والشرطة والمراقبين العسكريين بحلول يناير 2000؛ تخفيض القوات وحصرها على الجانبين؛ إعلان العفو العام. لذلك، أوصى الأمين العام بتمديد ولاية البعثة حتى 30 أكتوبر 1999. صدرت تعليمات للأمين العام بإبقاء المجلس على علم بالتطورات في خطة التسوية، لا سيما فيما يتعلق بالمناقشات بين حكومة المغرب وجبهة البوليساريو وإمكانية استمرار تفويض بعثة الأمم المتحدة للاستفتاء في الصحراء الغربية. - United Nations Security Council resolution 1235, adopted unanimously on 30 April 1999, after reaffirming all previous resolutions on the question of the Western Sahara, the Council extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) for a further two weeks until 14 May 1999. The Council noted a report of the Secretary-General Kofi Annan and his recommendations. In the report, he stated that timely implementation of the revised timetable was predicated among many issues: the full deployment of MINURSO troops by July 1999; co-operation of both parties in the voter identification process; the completion of repatriation arrangements by the end of 1999; the deployment of military units, police and military observers by January 2000; reduction and confinement of troops on both sides; the proclamation of a general amnesty. Therefore, the Secretary-General recommended that MINURSO's mandate be extended until 30 October 1999. The Secretary-General was instructed to keep the Council informed on developments in the Settlement Plan, particularly as regards to discussions between the Government of Morocco and Polisario Front and the viability of MINURSO's mandate.
