- La Resolució 1218 del Consell de Seguretat de les Nacions Unides fou adoptada per unanimitat el 22 de desembre de 1998.Després de reafirmar totes les resolucions sobre la situació a Xipre, el Consell va dirigir el procés de pau al voltant del conflicte de Xipre i va instar a ambdues parts a cooperar amb el Secretari General. El Consell de Seguretat va expressar la seva preocupació per la manca de progrés cap a un acord polític general a Xipre. Va recolzar la iniciativa del secretari general Kofi Annan per reduir la tensió que promogués el progrés a l'illa entre la República de Xipre i Xipre del Nord i va encomiar a ambdues parts pels seus esforços constructius. Es va instar al Secretari General a continuar els objectius tenint en compte Resolució 1178 (1998) i treballar intensivament sobre els següents temes: (a) Restauració d'amenaces o ús de la violència;(b) Limitar i reduir la presència de tropes estrangeres a l'illa;(c) Propostes d'implementació recomanades per la Força de les Nacions Unides pel Manteniment de la Pau a Xipre per reduir les tensions al llarg de la Línia Verda.(d) Avançar en la reducció de la tensió;(e) Progrés en qüestions de fons;(f) Altres mesures per construir cooperació i confiança. Es va instar a ambdues parts a complir els assumptes esmentats i es va demanar al Secretari General que mantingués actualitzat el Consell sobre el progrés. (ca)
- قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 1218، الذي تم تبنيه بالإجماع في 22 ديسمبر 1998، بعد إعادة التأكيد على جميع القرارات المتعلقة بالوضع في قبرص، تناول المجلس عملية السلام المحيطة بالنزاع القبرصي ودعا الطرفين إلى التعاون مع الأمين العام. وأعرب مجلس الأمن عن قلقه إزاء عدم إحراز تقدم نحو تسوية سياسية شاملة في قبرص. وأيد مبادرة الأمين العام كوفي عنان للحد من التوتر وتعزيز التقدم في الجزيرة بين جمهورية قبرص وشمال قبرص، وأثنى على الجانبين لجهودهما البناءة. تم حث الأمين العام على مواصلة الأهداف مع مراعاة القرار 1178 (1998) والعمل بشكل مكثف بشأن القضايا التالية: (أ) الامتناع عن التهديد أو استخدام العنف؛(ب) الحد من وجود القوات الأجنبية في الجزيرة؛(ج) تنفيذ المقترحات التي أوصت بها قوة الأمم المتحدة لحفظ السلام في قبرص للحد من التوترات على طول المنطقة العازلة؛(د) إحراز مزيد من التقدم في تخفيف التوتر؛(هـ) إحراز تقدم بشأن القضايا الموضوعية؛(و) تدابير أخرى لبناء التعاون والثقة. وحث كلا الطرفين على الامتثال للمسائل المذكورة أعلاه، وطُلب من الأمين العام اطلاع المجلس على التقدم المحرز. - Resolusi 1218 Dewan Keamanan Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa, diadopsi pada 22 Desember 1998. Usai mengulang seluruh resolusi seputar situasi di Siprus, DKPBB menyerukan proses damai atas sengketa Siprus dan menyerukan agar kedua belah pihak bekerjasama dengan Sekjen. (in)
- United Nations Security Council resolution 1218, adopted unanimously on 22 December 1998, after reaffirming all resolutions on the situation in Cyprus, the Council addressed the peace process surrounding the Cyprus dispute and called upon both parties to co-operate with the Secretary-General. The Security Council expressed concern at the lack of progress towards an overall political settlement in Cyprus. It endorsed the initiative of the Secretary-General Kofi Annan to reduce tension promote progress on the island between the Republic of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus, and commended both sides for their constructive efforts. The Secretary-General was urged to continue the objectives taking into account Resolution 1178 (1998), and to work intensively on the following issues: (a) Refraining from threats or use of violence;(b) To limit and reduce the presence of foreign troops on the island;(c) Implementing proposals recommended by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus to reduce tensions along the Buffer Zone;(d) Further progress in reducing tension;(e) Making progress on substantive issues;(f) Other measures to build co-operation and trust. Both parties were urged to comply with the aforementioned issues and the Secretary-General was requested to keep the Council updated on progress. (en)
