- La Convention d'UNIDROIT sur les biens culturels volés ou illicitement exportés (Rome, 1995) est un traité international qui porte spécifiquement sur la restitution des biens culturels volés ou illicitement exportés. Elle vise à combler les principales faiblesses de la Convention de l'UNESCO de 1970 concernant les mesures à prendre pour interdire et empêcher l’importation, l’exportation et le transfert de propriété illicites des biens culturels. La Convention d'UNIDROIT a pour but de lutter contre le trafic illicite des biens culturels en modifiant le comportement de l'acheteur, en l'obligeant à vérifier la provenance licite de son achat. - UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects (Rome, 1995) is the international treaty on the subject of cultural property protection. It attempts to strengthen the main weaknesses of the 1970 UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property. The UNIDROIT Convention seeks to fight the illicit trafficking of cultural property by modifying the buyer's behaviour, obliging him/her to check the legitimacy of their purchase. (en)
