- The Truth Shall Not Sink with Sewol (Korean: 다이빙벨; RR: Daibingbel; lit. Diving Bell) is a South Korean documentary film about the sinking of the MV Sewol, directed by Lee Sang-ho (journalist) and Ahn Hae-ryong.The documentary draws back the curtain on one of the most controversial parts of modern Korean history, the aftermath of the sinking of the MV Sewol, which resulted in the loss of 304 people. Through a variety of news reports and eyewitness testimonies, directors Sang-ho Lee (“Journalist Lee”) and Hae-ryong Ahn show how the large South Korean media companies colluded with the government over the information about the sinking of the ferry. He highlights the suffering of the victims’ families, their quest to discover the cause of the accident, and the truth behind the government’s behavior during and after it. The documentary focuses on the use of a diving bell, a piece of equipment that allows divers to stay underwater for long periods of time. Lee draws the conclusion that precious rescue time was wasted by government authorities. (en)
- 《다이빙벨》은 세월호 침몰 사고에 다이빙벨을 투입하는 과정을 다룬 다큐멘터리 영화이다. 이상호와 안해룡이 감독했다. 안해룡 감독은 '다이빙벨'의 부산영화제 상영과 관련해서 "영화 '다이빙벨'은 희생자나 유족의 얘기가 아닙니다. 무고한 시민들이 억울하게 희생되는 구조의 책임을 져야 할 권력과, 감시자 역할을 해야 할 언론에 대한 이야기입니다. 비판이 아니라 의문 제기고요...영화를 보고 세월호 사건이 왜 참사가 되었는지, 구조 당국은 무엇을 했는지, 이런 다양한 질문들을 관객들이 더 많이 해 주신다면 이 의문투성이 상황에서 벗어나 조금은 진실에 가까워질 수 있을 거라 생각합니다. 영화는 그저 작은 질문의 실마리를 던진 것에 불과해요."라고 말했다. 또한 안 감독은 인터뷰를 통해 "그분(유가족)들은 물론 소중하고, 그 아픔 또한 이해하지만 진실을 위해선 더 큰 문제제기를 해야 한다"고 말했다. 이 영화는 2015년 후쿠오카아시아영화제(Fukuoka Asian Film Festival)에서 그랑프리를 수상했다. 2015년 제29회 한국 출품작은《다이빙벨》외에 《워킹걸》(정범식 감독),《헬머니》(신한솔 감독)이 있었다. 이 영화제는 매우 소규모의 민간 영화제이며, 홈페이지를 참고하면 출품비는 무료이며 심사위원 및 심사절차는 명확히 알 수 없다. 참고로 2016년 제30회 영화제(2016.7.6~7.10)에는 특별상영작을 포함 총 14 작품이 상영되었다. 그 중에서 한국 영화가 총 4편으로 《먹는 존재》(이철하 감독), 《소년》(김현승 감독), 《연기의 중력》(정근웅 감독),《불안한 외출》(김철민 감독)이었고, 《불안한 외출》이 그랑프리를 수상했다. 후쿠오카에는 '후쿠오카아시와영화제' 외에 '포커스온아시아 후쿠오카국제영화제(アジアフォーカス・福岡国際映画祭, Focus on Asia - Fukuoka International Film Festival)'가 있다. 두 영화제는 다른 영화제이다.
