- Els teleosàurids (Teleosauridae) eren ànimals rèptils cocodriliformes que vivien des de principi del Juràssic al principi del Cretaci. Menjaven peixos són els més estretament emparentats amb els Metriorhynchidae, elscocodrilians del Mesozoic que tornaren cap al mar i tenien braços com pales i cua com de peix. (ca)

- Teleosauridae, auch "Löffelsaurier" genannt, ist eine Familie ausgestorbener , die während der Periode des Jura entlang der Küsten des damaligen Tethysmeeres verbreitet waren. Im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen ausgestorbenen Meereskrokodilen, lebten einige Teleosauriden auch bevorzugt in Süßgewässern. Fossilien von Teleosauriden wie Mystriosaurus, Platysuchus, Aeolodon und wurden dabei auch im deutschsprachigen Raum gefunden. (de)
- Los teleosáuridos (Teleosauridae) son una familia de arcosaurios cocodriliformes talatosuquios que aparecieron a principios del Período Jurásico, en el Sinemuriano, hace 190 millones de años, para desaparecer hace 136 millones de años, en el Barremiense, a principios del Cretácico, siendo conocidos de Europa, Asia, África, Madagascar, Sudamérica y Norteamérica. Fueron cocodriliformes similares a los gaviales modernos. Tenían largos hocicos, indicando que eran piscívoros y fueron los parientes más cercanos de Metriorhynchidae, los cocodrilianos del Mesozoico que retornaron al mar y adquirieron patas como aletas y cola de pez. Se definen como el clado más inclusivo que contiene al Teleosaurus cadomensis (Lamouroux, 1820) pero no a Metriorhynchus geoffroyi (Meyer, 1832) ni a Crocodylus niloticus (Laurenti, 1768). La familia tiene una distribución geográfica amplia, con material encontrado en África (Etiopía, Madagascar, Túnez y Marruecos), Europa (Austria, Inglaterra, Francia, Alemania, Italia, Portugal, Rusia y Suiza), América del Norte (Oregón), América del Sur (Argentina), India y posiblemente China. - Teleosauridae is a family of extinct typically marine crocodylomorphs similar to the modern gharial that lived during the Jurassic period. Teleosaurids were thalattosuchians closely related to the fully aquatic metriorhynchoids, but were less adapted to an open-ocean, pelagic lifestyle. The family was originally coined to include all the semi-aquatic (i.e. non-metriorhynchoid) thalattosuchians and was equivalent to the modern superfamily Teleosauroidea. However, as teleosauroid relationships and diversity was better studied in the 21st century, the division of teleosauroids into two distinct evolutionary lineages led to the establishment of Teleosauridae as a more restrictive family within the group, together with its sister family Machimosauridae. Amongst teleosauroids, teleosaurids were generally smaller and less common than machimosaurids, suggesting the two families occupied different niches, similar to modern species of crocodilians. However, teleosaurids were more diverse than machimosaurids, with generalist coastal predators (Mystriosaurus), long-snouted marine piscivores (Bathysuchus), and potentially even long-snouted, semi-terrestrial predators (Teleosaurus). Additionally, teleosaurids occupied a wider range of habitats than machimosaurids, from semi-marine coasts and esturies, the open-ocean, freshwater, and potentially even semi-terrestrial environments. По внешнему виду сходны с современным гавиалом, от которого отличаются главным образом присутствием брюшного панциря и двояковогнутыми позвонками. Как и у гавиала, у телеозаврид прежде всего в глаза бросается удлинённая узкая морда, усаженная острыми зубами, на самом конце которой находятся соединённые ноздри. Туловище телеозаврид было покрыто костяными щитками, которые на спинной стороне располагались двумя продольными рядами; тогда как на брюхе сплошной панцирь состоял из нескольких рядов более мелких костяных пластинок. Они обладали слабо развитыми передними конечностями, что должно было затруднять их передвижение на суше и делало их по преимуществу водными обитателями, а также сильным длинным хвостом, помогавшим при плавании. Взрослые телеозавриды достигали длины в 6 метров, что сравнимо с длиной крупнейших современных гавиалов. Отдельные кости и полные скелеты погибших телеозаврид и близких к ним и встречаются в прекрасно сохранившемся состоянии, под слоем ила и глины в отложениях юрского периода во Франции, Германии и Англии.
