Ha producido grandes éxitos como Lejos del cielo, Insomnio, Syriana así como las películas dirigidas por Clooney: Confesiones de una mente peligrosa y Buenas noches, y buena suerte. Soderbergh, citando su deseo de centrarse en la dirección, y Clooney han planeado cerrar Section Eight a finales de 2006. - Section Eight Productions est une société de production de cinéma américaine fondée en 2000 par George Clooney et Steven Soderbergh. Le nom de la société fait ironiquement référence à un terme militaire américain désignant une classe de réformés du service militaire pour cause d'inaptitude physique ou mentale. Ils produisent sous ce label leurs propres projets : Ocean's Eleven (2001), Solaris (2002) ou encore Ocean's Twelve (2004) de Steven Soderbergh, et les réalisations de George Clooney : son premier film Confessions d'un homme dangereux (2002) et Good Night and Good Luck (2005). Ils produisent également des films qui leur tiennent à cœur : Syriana, La rumeur court..., etc. À l'initiative de Steven Soderbergh, désireux de se concentrer sur la réalisation, la société ferme ses portes fin 2006. Elle mènera cependant à terme des projets jusqu'en 2009. George Clooney fonde ensuite avec son complice Grant Heslov la société de production Smokehouse. (fr)

It produced the critical hits Far from Heaven, Insomnia, Syriana, A Scanner Darkly and Michael Clayton, as well as Clooney-directed films Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Good Night, and Good Luck. In 2005, Syriana and Good Night, and Good Luck picked up eight Oscars nominations between them. With Soderbergh citing a desire to focus on directing, and Clooney forming production company Smokehouse Pictures with Grant Heslov, the two decided to shut down Section Eight at the end of 2006. Ha prodotto diverse pellicole di successo tra cui Lontano dal paradiso, Insomnia, Syriana, A Scanner Darkly - Un oscuro scrutare, e Michael Clayton, oltre ai film in cui Clooney ha vestito i panni di regista: Confessioni di una mente pericolosa e Good Night, and Good Luck. In accordo col desiderio di Soderbergh di dedicarsi maggiormente al lavoro di regista anziché di produttore, a luglio 2006 la Section Eight Productions ha chiuso i battenti lasciando spazio alla neonata Smokehouse Productions, fondata il 1º agosto 2006 da George Clooney e Grant Heslov.
