- The Great Seal of the State of Maryland is the official government emblem of the U.S. state of Maryland. Its official service is to authenticate acts by the General Assembly of Maryland (state legislature), but it is also used for display purposes at most state buildings. Although the state seal has been changed in design several times throughout history, the current model represents the reverse side of the original seal. The seal consists of two sides, a reverse and an obverse. In official contexts, only the reverse side is used. (en)

Il primo sigillo fu adottato nel 1645 durante la ribellione disegnato da Richard Ingle. Ci sono state variazioni nei dettagli dello stemma negli anni dei secoli.

- Rewers pieczęci stanowej Maryland otoczony jest łacińskim fragmentem Psalmu 5, znaczącym Okryjesz go łaską swoją jako najpewniejszą zbroją. Na wstędze, dewiza stanowa: Fatti maschii, parole femine (pol. męskie czyny, kobiece słowa, czasem też rozumiane jako silne czyny, łagodne słowa). W centrum herb, nawiązujący do połączonych herbów dwóch rodów angielskich, Calvert i Crossland. Sir George Calvert otrzymał herb w 1622 roku, a w 1634 roku, jego synowie założyli kolonię Maryland. Jako jej symbol wybrali połączony herb ojczysty Calvert z herbem swej prababki z rodu Crossland. (pl)
