- سلمى بنت عميس الخثعمية صحابية، أبوها عميس بن معد بن تميم بن الحارث بن شهران بن خثعم، وأمها هند وهي خولة بنت عوف بن زهير بن الحارث بن حماطة بن جرش. أسلمت سلمى قديمًا مع أختها أسماء بنت عميس، تزوجت سلمى من حمزة بن عبد المطلب عم النبي محمد، فولدت له ابنته أمامة التي كانت بمكة فأخرجها علي بن أبي طالب في عمرة القضاء، فأختصم فيها علي وزيد بن حارثة وجعفر بن أبي طالب وأراد كل واحد ضمّها إليه وكفالتها، فقضى بها النبي محمد لجعفر بن أبي طالب لأن خالتها أسماء بنت عميس كانت زوجته، ولقول النبي محمد: «إن المرأة لا تنكح على عمتها ولا على خالتها». بعد استشهاد حمزة في غزوة أحد سنة 3هـ، تزوجها شداد بن الهاد الليثي، فولدت له عبد الله بن شداد. وسلمى هي الأخت الصغرى لأسماء بنت عميس زوجة الخليفة الأول أبو بكر الصديق وهي أيضًا أخت غير الشقيقة لأم المؤمنين زينب بنت خزيمة وأم المؤمنين ميمونة بنت الحارث آخر زوجات النبي محمد.

- Salmā bint ʿUmays (Arabic: سلمى بنت عميس) was a sahaba of Muhammad. She was from the Khath'am tribe. Her father was Umays ibn Maadd, and her mother was Hind bint Awf from the Himyar tribe. Her full siblings were Asma bint Umays and Awn ibn Umays, and her maternal half-siblings included Maymuna bint al-Harith, Lubaba bint al-Harith and Mahmiya ibn al-Jaz'i. Salma and her sister Asma were among the early converts to Islam. She married Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib, and they had one daughter, Umama. Salma and Umama joined the emigration to Medina in 622; but after Hamza was martyred at the battle of Uhud, they returned to Mecca. Salma then married Shaddad ibn al-Had, who was from the Layth clan of the Bakr tribe, and they had one son, Abdullah. Salma was still living in Mecca in March 629, when Muhammad visited to perform the minor pilgrimage. At that time, Ali took her daughter Umama away to live among the Muslims in Medina. (en)
